Attorneys General Curb
Claims for "Tahitian Noni"
On August 26, 1998, the Attorneys General of Arizona, California, New Jersey, and Texas announced a multi-state settlement with Morinda, Inc., a multilevel company headquartered in Linden, Utah. The states had charged that Morinda had made unsubstantiated claims in consumer testimonials and other promotional material that its "Tahitian Noni" juice could treat, cure or prevent numerous diseases, including diabetes, depression, hemorrhoids and arthritis. Such claims rendered the beverage an unapproved new drug under state and federal food and drug laws and should not have been sold until it received approval. Under the terms of the agreement, Morinda must:
No longer make drug claims, or claims that the product can cure, treat, or prevent any disease until "Tahitian Noni" is approved and cleared for those uses by the U.S. Food and Drug Adminstration.
Not make any other claims, whether health claims or others, regarding the benefits of "Tahitian Noni" unless such claims are true and the company can substantiate the claim by reliable scientific evidence.
Not use testimonials which imply that the advertised claimed results are the typical or ordinary experience of consumers in actual conditions of use, unless Morinda possesses and relies upon adequate substantiation that the results are typical or ordinary.
In addition, Morinda must refund to any consumer who requests a refund in writing, the full purchase price paid for the product. The agreement also calls for Morinda to pay $100,000 for investigative costs.

Thanks Sponge Bob, I was a well meaning friend that gave it to me. I guess the saying is true, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". Thanks for letting me know before I asked my chemo doctor. He probably would have had a cow.spongebob said:Attorneys General Curb

I viewed your site on gallery, finally found it and enjoyed every bit of it, couldn't pull up some pics because of computer slow I think but I enjoyed your story & all on expression gallery. You seem like such a cool guy even being a Military man, Just kidding, then I could view other friends' sites. Enjoyed that since I had a hard time getting around CSN site. You are a special person (as we all are I think) and our view of life is definatly changed after a cancer blow. I know I feel different about my kids, friends & life in general because of this, soooo
please include me in the next "semi-colon" reunion! I need to be there for my own peace of mind & meet new friends & friend-ships which what I now think this is all about. O.K.
I know you don't really know me but I am way cool for a colon cancer person, hell we gotta be!
Bottoms Ups , please respond, Thanks Amos, aka slammer....Love Amy0 -
Hi Judy!
I have heard about Noni Juice. I never tried it nor did much research on it. I never got a good "feeling" about it. Seemed too snake oily. But maybe it just needs to prove its worth and staying power. Time will tell.
On the other hand Aloe Vera juice is very good for colon health. I took it alot. It is very soothing.
Also try Essiac Tea. That has a tried and true following in the alternative world. there are some naysayers, but I used it.
I am skeptical if something is pooh-poohed by the mainstream medical establishment b/c they have a reputation of blackballing legitimate cancer healing products if they can't get a cut of the pie. But if it is eschewed from the alternative community then I take notice. Unfortunately I am not aware of what stance they take on Noni Juice. No surprise that Sponger got some info about a bad rap on it.
But again, I avoided it but I have a friend who loved it. then again she was not battling colon cancer.
Does any of this help?
If you want juice I advise getting a Champion Juicer and a 25 pound bag of carrots, some ginger, spinach, parsley, granny smith apples and some celery and container of Perfect Food green powder and go to town!!
peace, emily who bought hers on www.discountjuicers.com0 -
Hi Judy,
I have to honestly say that I have not been keeping up on your case consistantly. I do not read this forum every day or anything, but it seems to me that you could certainly benefit from some alternative therapies.
Have you tried consulting a naturopathic physician. I have been taking a variety of supplements ever since I was originally diagnosed back in 2001. I have been consulting w/ a doctor via phone who is in Seattle. He was recommended to me by my oncologist and specializes in adjunctive oncology (meaning works w/ cancer patients). I would highly recommend that you seek out a naturopathic doctor in your area. If you are in a big city, you should have no problem finding one. If you are in a small town, you can do like I do and speak to one over the phone.
I would also consider traditional Chinese Medicine. I have been seeing an acupuncturist recently who has been helping me w/ some minor neuropathy ( I had two lung mets removed in October) related to my surgery. He has also helped me w/ the mental aspects which is the point I am trying to get to here.....
I have noticed over the months/years that you have been under extreme duress. I know you have had your undue share of all types of complications, but it seems like it has just been one thing after another w/ you. I do not want to offend you in any way, but I think you need to take a serious look at the mental aspects of your healing. I know you are a woman of faith, that is obvious from things you have said. But, I believe to some extent we are responsible for healing ourselves. Positive thinking and believing that we can and WILL be cured is very important. I don't know how much work you have tried to do in that regard..
I would highly recommend maybe taking yoga, meditation, maybe Tai Chi, etc. etc. and going for walks, exercise, and so forth. I have been working on my mind recently and have found it to be very beneficial to me. May I recommend the book by Louise Hay called "You can Heal your Life".
Good luck w/ seeking out a wholistic path to healing!

Hi Susan, No I don't take offense in your post, but....I feel I am a very positive person. I don't think with having cancer 3 times in a year and a half that you can be positive all the time. Yes, I am a very devoted christian and my prayers and the ones of many more have kept me alive. Spiritually and emotionally I believe I am doing quite well. Yes, it has been a real struggle. But...I am very blessed to have a great family. They have stood beside me all the way. I have never believed that I wouldn't be healed, but I do feel it is in God's hands. You say you have not kept up with my case. That's rather obvious. I don't mean to offend you either. But...go back and read some posts from May, 2004 when I had surgery and you will see a little about what I have come through. And, I do say COME THROUGH. It HAS been very hard. I continue to fight and I will till the end. I do go to a therapist and she always tells me how well I'm doing. I had a rough time last time emotionally when I found out I had cancer for the third time, but I buckled down and I try to do everything my doctors tell me. But, you take finding out you have heart problems, having to cath yourself every time you need to urinate, permanent colostomy and finding out you had a stroke during surgery, and see how positive you can be. I'm sorry I don't mean this to sound harsh. Hope you don't take it that way. I just still have a lot of fight in me and want everyone to know it.shmurciakova said:Hi Judy,
