New Dr. here we come!

It has been a while since writing but I do read the posts often. I pray for for you folks all the time. It seems that each time I post it is complaining about our Dr. He has lied to us so many times now that I lost count. We tell him we want the truth and straight answers. He doesn't seem to be able to do that... Well, FINALLY I had had enough and called and scheduled an appointment with another dr in our town. He is associated with a different hospital which makes it a little uneasy to switch but, enough is enough. Hubby met with him Monday and changed on the spot! He really feels comfortable with him and so do I. He listens and said if we want to see records and results then that's what will happen!
As for the treatment, he agrees with the previous dr and that is fine. (Oxlaplatin, Leucavorian, Avastin and 5FU) {never could spell!} BUT, this dr doesn't put patient in the hospital for 3 days for the chemo and that is great. He agrees that if the side effects are bad he will reduce the dose and change things around. The original dr. never wanted to. He did once, and then when it didn't work they way he thought, he thru guilt back at hubby for wanting to cut the dose!
Sorry to ramble but this is actually a good post even tho hubby's cancer isn't much, if any, better. BUT we see hope and truth and besides, it's in God's hands anyway. I just thank him for leading me in the direction of this new dr.
AND I thank all of you for your support and love in the past 15 months. God bless you all.

pjenks,
I am so glad you found a Dr. that you can feel comfortable with. My original doctor was never my favorite either. The treatment he prescribed was pretty much protocol for my stage 111 cancer, but our rapport was a bit strained, so I can understand where you are coming from.
When I had a recurrance (which I found and had to convince him that my cancer had recurred) I decided right then and there that I must change, so off to MD Anderson in Houston. It is not as convenient, but the treatment is so much better and I trust and believe in my doctor.
My original doctor swore up and down that my cancer was cured and argued with me and wrote in my chart that I was "overly concerned with recurrance". Well, I was right - it came back.
Good for you and your hubby for taking charge of your health and medical care. We have choices (thank goodness) and if we don't like the care we are getting, there is better care out there.
I will hold you in my prayers that all goes well for you.

Hey, that's terrific that you made the break and found someone you like better. I think having someone you can really work with is very important. We need to save our strength for healing, not to brace ourselves for mediocre interactions with the people who are helping us. Congratulations!0
