WHAT ARE THEY CHECKING FOR WHEN THEY DO A CT SCAN?
I'VE HAD BONE SCANS ,MRI'S AND X-RAYS BUT NOT A CT SCAN.I'VE HAD RIB PAIN SINCE SURGERY-THE BONE SCAN I HAD ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO SHOWED NOTHING-I HAD MY FOLLOW UP TODAY WITH THE ONOCOLOGIST,SINCE THE LOWER PART OF MY NECK IS TENDER ALONG WITH MY RIB CAGE SHE SAID SHE DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING WAS WRONG BUT TO GO AHEAD AND HAVE IT SCHEDULED-SO I DID-IT'S THIS FRIDAY AT 11 AM.I KNOW PART OF THE REASON IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT I LOST MY JOB LAST WEEK,WHILE I STILL HAVE INSURANCE TO CHECK IT OUT.I DON'T THINK I HAVE ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT ,JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE.I STILL DON'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE IN THE TEST,COULD SOMEONE ANSWER THIS FOR ME.
I'M FEELING ALITTLE LOST RIGHT NOW WITH SO MUCH OTHER STUFF GOING ON IN MY LIFE.IF ANYONE COULD GIVE ME DIRECTION - I'D REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
TRYING TO KEEP FAITH AND HOPE,
LOVE

Sue,
I'm so sorry you lost your job! Will you be able to continue insurance with COBRA? I'm on COBRA also now since my husband's co. moved to Atlanta and we chose not to go.
I had a CT scan of my chest, abdomen and pelvis after my initial surgery to rule out distant mets. before I started chemo (also had a bone scan). What area did they do the MRI and X-rays of? Sounds like she is just doing a thorough work-up on you to rule things out. Keep us posted.

Hi - I've been done with tx now almost 18 mo and had a career in radiology or diagnostic imaging for 18 yrs. I'm not an old lady - just turned 42. As a breast cancer patient and a professional, I can tell you I believe your doctor is being very thorough and that is a good thing! A CT scan is not really much different than the scans you have already had, just a different modality to check your body. CT enables direct imaging of soft tissue structures, such as liver, lung tissue, and fat. CT is especially useful in searching for lesions, tumors and metastasis.
I am sorry to hear you have lost your job. Me too. A good reason to get your scan done too, while you have your insurance or COMBRA. Good luck to you and God Bless. ~ ~ Grace0 -
Thanks for Your input.I received my Cobra forms by certified mail today.I haven't looked them over yet, can't seem to focus right now.
I got up this morning with a to do list but I'm getting a little frustrated because I can't seem to get enough stuff done.I used to do twice what was on the list and I'm not even a quarter of the way done. And to top it off my Husband called me to let me know thar his parents called, his Father suggested that I go out on disability*#&%^since my energy levels aren't what they used to be,that keeps me from being profficent at my job.I have to say that hurts right now I know my memory has gone to dodo, but I really thought i was doing good.I guess it wasn't good enough-I went from a 45000 dollar a year job to 00000.
I really don't think my memory is good enough to take on another career right now, besides I couldn't keep up with the one I was trained for.
I'll stop whining now...It doesn't really matter anyway0
