Surgical Decision Made! Thanks All
Firstly, my sincerest thanks to everyone who posted and gave me advice with respect to whether I should have the cytoreduction surgery I need here in Cincinnati or in Washington DC.
Well, I have made my decision and it is to have the surgery here in Cincinnati on January 21 (a lot better than March, 17 which was the date had I decided to go to Washington).
I met with the surgeon who will be performing the procedure, Dr. Lowy, yesterday and I felt very comfortable and confident with him. This surgery is no walk in the park, that is for sure and he didnt try to tell me it was, but we are going to do all we can to fight what seems to be an aggressive cancer inside me with aggressive measures. I will never, ever give up and I fully expect me to be among the 25-30% who survive this type of cancer and live long healthy lives.
I truly appreciate all of your support and care...I will keep you updated as sadly, even tho this condition, peritoneal carcinomatosis, is very rare, it may effect someone in our lives in the future and I definitely want to help others get the information I had a heck of a time finding when I was diagnosed.
You are all in my prayers every day!!!
Lisa

Lisa,
I'm so glad you finally have a date. I know there is some relief when a decision is made. I have put Jan. 21 on my calendar and I will be saying lots of prayers for you that day and following that you have a complete recovery. We must always have faith and hope. That keeps us going. I will be here for you.
Fondly,

Hey Lisa...Good luck on your decision! You made the best decision you could with the information you had, so don't ever look back or second-guess yourself. I'm glad your ready to take some action.
Whatever happened to the days of just trying to decide where everyone was going to go eat lunch??? When we were kids, did anyone of you guys ever dream you'd be making decisions like this?
Let us know how things work out.

Hey Lisa girl....an absolute child!!
Glad you came to a decision that feels right for you. I told you in my earlier post that I went with the number 2 doc in both my recent surgeries, with great results both times. Wishing the same for you.
Your attitude is just great...although the surgery is rugged, your "fitness" and determination will carry you through. Stock up on easy watch movies....not too many laugh out loud comedies until the staples are out!
Sending many positive thoughts your way; be thinking of you on the 21st. Judy0
