colon reccurance

can anybody tell me what the symptoms of a colon recurrance might be like ???.

    Symptoms of recurrance would be the same as original. Blood, fatigue, odor, pain, frequency, etc. You don't always have symptoms, of course. Just ask Kerry. Hopefully you are in a good follow-up surveillance regime and they would catch any recurrance early and nip it in the bud.

    I do have occult blood and fatigue, but awaiting blood test results for tumor marker.

    I do, too right now. Blood markers for me are normal (of course they were normal when I had active cancer)... the waiting game sucks, doesn;t it? I'm at sea so I won't be able to have more follow-up tests done until I get back in a few weeks. Hoping that the fatigue is just the result of spending too much quality time with the Hooters Girls and the occult blood is from known ulcers at my anastoma.

    We both probably just need to quit partying so much, eh? Naw... you find yourself in Biloxi - we'll go tear it up - fatigue be damned!

    Hi, My cancer recurrred six months after original diagnosis. My symptoms were bleeding again and fatigue and just feeling like things weren't right. I said after the first time that I would listen to my body and glad I did. I had chemo and radiation second time and permanent colostomy. But....I'm alive and proof that even after a recurrence that we can still survive. Hang in there. Don't ever give up!!!

    It does depend on where the occcurance is. If it returns in the same site as before the symtpoms above are right and should be ectively investigates. If it occurs elsewhere it depends on the site eg lung can be shortness of breath, coughing up blood etc, liver may be more innocuous bt can cause nausea, fatigue and jaundice.
    It is easy to get obsessed that every symptom we have indicates a recurrance though and you need to be sensibly sautious about this. Being vigilant is important but keep it all perspective - there are many more things that cause these symptoms thatn a recurrence many of which ar e very ciommon eg haummorhoids, bowel infections etc. Get it investigated to put your mind at ease.

    recurrance sometimes has no symptom. Mine didn't - I just monitored my blood work by making a chart and each time marking where my lymphocytes were and my CEA along with blood counts, wbc, rbc, hemoglobin, etc. When I noticed a drift in upward or downward directions I took action.

    You can't spend your life worrying about recurrance (tough to say to colon cancer survivors), but just be aware of your body and your tests and ask the doctor lots of questions.
