I'm so sorry to hear of your uncle's diagnosis. It's scary enough to be dealing with leukemia without having to worry about health insurance too. Has he looked into Medicaid? Most hospitals should have a social worker who can help him apply for the Medicaid program. Also, there are many states with their own Medicaid-style programs that cover people who don't qualify for Medicaid, so that's something else to look into (off the top of my head I know that Massachusetts, Minnesota, Tennessee, and I think Washington state have them, but there may be others). I wish your uncle the best of luck with his treatment and in acquiring health insurance. Please keep us all posted on his treatment and progress. You're both in my thoughts.
