pregnancy and cancer

please e- mail the board if you want to se a forum for pregnancy, infertility, and pregnancy with cancer. I think it would be helpfull to alot of us.

    I think it would be a good topic. My husband was diagnosed over a year ago. He's 30 and I'm 29. We have no children, yet. Before he started chemo, we asked his oncologist about the effect of chemo on fertility and the Doc was surprised that we asked. I don't think that most oncologists are used to seeing patients that are in child-bearing years...at least this one wasn't.

    I am 29-years-old, diagnosed with melanoma in April, had surgery in May (no evidence of disease spreading), and got pregnant (with multiple physicians' blessings) in June. Am now 5 months pregnant and getting ready for my 6-month checkup with the surgeon. The decisions my husband and I have made in the past few months have not been easy, and it would be wonderful to have a support group available in this forum. Thank you.

    I think it would be great. There is not a lot of information out there. I had a mastectomy in February. I will now have to wait for my next reconstruction surgery until after I have the baby next July. We were not planning on having a baby after my diagnosis, but God has a bigger plan than we do! Just so you know we have 3 children already and I am 27 years old. Hope they get a site for this! With more people getting cancer at younger ages, this issue should be important enough to get its own forum.

    I agree and think it would be great! I was diagnosed with breast cancer while nursing my son at age 26. I'm 27 now and very anxiously awaiting to see if I'll be able to have more children. I finished chemo 7 months ago but my body still hasn't returned to normal. There just isn't very much information about fertility after cancer or the risks associated with pregnancy after cancer. I would be very interested in a board dedicated to this - although I am a member of the FertileHope message board as well.

    i concur -- we need this! i was recently diagnosed with melanoma and am having the hardest time getting good, specific info about pregnancy risk! Any advice about where to turn? I've had surgery and the (shallow) melanoma is gone but my dermatologist (who's also an internist) won't give me the green light for pregnancy. He wants to send me to someone else for the OK but i don't know where to go to get specific information about my personal risks associated with pregnancy.
