Scared
It's been almost a year since I was diagnosed with B/C 11/03. I am almost 6 months out of chemo. I found a lump on the inside of my right foot today and I'm freaking out. Could it be cancer? It feels like bone, it's hard as a rock. I never noticed it before today (who looks at their feet?). I have an appointment next month with my oncologist, do you think I should show him, or call my PCP and see what they think? I appreciate your support and help.

Yes, you should tell them, and maybe should call them to see if they want to see you sooner. You know, it is probably nothing, but, it could be something and you need the peace of mind. I had a similar thing involving my left foot...turned dark on top and the skin got thick and tough. I went just because I thought it was ugly and turns out that it can be serious. I go to Duke Univ. in December. So, get peace of mind.0

Hi mom62, This thing could be nothing but everytime we find something after B/C we think the worst. I too had breast cancer in Sept.2001. And everytime I find something I think its back. Dont live your life expecting the worst. Live your life living ,and not in fear. Get your foot check out. But dont claim anything bad. I feel that you will be okay. Don't live your life scared. Because God didn't make us survivor for nothing. Takecare and be well,Denie0

Hi Terry:
Could be that it's just how your foot is and has always been...something you only now discovered?
Hoping that's the case!
My thoughts are that it would make sense and save some time, to see an orthopedic doc. They deal exclusively with the bones, joints, muscles and tendons, everyday. They'd likely do an x-ray right in the office and you'd likely leave there knowing more than if you ask your primary doc what he thinks it is. Would also save you an extra trip for an xray.
At any rate, I'd get it checked out as soon as possible and please keep us posted.
Love, light and laughter,

Terry,
My moto is if you notice something different, check it out. If it is nothing, which it probably is, you will at least put your mind at ease. We all get scared to death every time we find a new bump or lump. It just goes with the territory. Kind of like chemo brain.

I agree- if something is new and troubling get it checked out. Who needs that stress?! We already feel we can't trust our bodies anymore so I believe in checking everything out. My insurance company just adores this practice- NOT! But who cares? It is YOUR body!!
Good luck!
