My mom just had a modified radical mastectomy after getting A/C and taxotere. It seems that her cancer was very resistant to the chemo. Her pathology report just came in after surgery and indicated that she had 13out of 16 positive nodes and her tumor did not shrink from the 5.5 cm. it was before. She is 54 and really strong. But the oncologist reccomended radiation and hormonal therapy. I feel like she should have an add'l chemo to prevent recurence. She said that there was no chemo out their for the "slow growing, stubborn" cancer my mom has. I'm taking her for a 2nd opinion next week. We live in NY so there are a lot of opinions out there. We're going to Memorial Sloane Kettering on 9/9. Is anyone familiar with stage IIIc cancer and any other treatment besides radiation and tamoxifan.
Please, any advice is welcome

Hi, I am sorry about your mom. I have a friend who was diagnosed stage IIIC as well. Her chemo was FEC- 5FU, Epirubicin (sp?) and Cytoxan. She was given it as a "dose Dense" regimen every two weeks instead of every three weeks. SHe then had 4 every two week sessions of Taxol. She is now on Arimidex and NED (No evidence of Disease).
But I have to tell you - IT WAS ROUGH - that Dose Dense is a pretty gruelling ordeal.
Good luck at MSK- it is the best!
My prayers are with you and your mom.

    Hi Abby,

I had stage III BC and had a modified radical mastectomy. I had 3 out of 10 lymph nodes involved. I did 4 A/C and 4 Taxol after surgery and am cancer free. I did the treatments every two weeks. My tumor was only 2.5cm. I am now on Arimidex. Good luck to your mom, it's nice she has you as an advocate!
