Hello "extended family." I always have to remind myself that is is a colon cancer board, not a lung cancer board. But since I've always talked about my mom since I began posting a little over a year ago when Bert (hubby) was diagnosed stage III colon cancer, I feel like updates are warrented on her as well...even if it is a different cancer...Damn, cancer is cancer and devastating no matter what kind it is.

Anyway, results are in and Mom continues to respond to her clinical trial chemo for lung cancer and nodules in lungs have shrunk more. Total combined nodule measurements (there were five) at onset were 6.5 cm....total now is 2.4!!!! Onc is thrilled, mom is thrilled, Bert is thrilled, I'm thrilled. She has two more treatments under the MAC-321 trial and then we'll see what's next. One tough lady who is holding her own quite nicely. She was actually very overjoyed because of the combined good news...yesterday on Bert...today she. Thank you Lord and all of you for your continued support and prayers.

    Hey Monika--"tough lady?"--we reckon she must be but you can command that title 3 fold.For you to be able to cope with both Bert and your mum's illness is a huge pat on tha back for you---on top of that you find time to come here n help others.
    You have earnt the title of "angel" here Monika!!!

    Awh shoot Kanga and Jen...thanks! But it's wonderful people like yourselves and other's on this board that make giving any help that I am able to give so very, very worth while. I love you all.

    FABULOUS news !!!! So happy for you all. If you didn't keep us updated around here with you mom and snuck off to the lung cancer board we would feel abandoned!! :-) It is really irrelevant anyway if this is a colon board. It is more of a friendship board and we are all connected by our hinders or the hinders of our loved ones in some way. Your mother is piggybacked on bert's hinder! haha! They are a package deal.
