wow, really very cool to see that you care. I'm calling tomorrow...but I wasnt going to call an oncologist. can I do that? I thought they will only see you if its confirmed cancer already...anyway i was going to call my gyn back & ask her to refer me to another surgeon..not sure if i should go back & see the same surgeon that blew me off before. what do you think?

I think you're doing exactly the right thing - call your gyn back and get her to recommend another breast surgeon who is in your network and make an appointment with them immediately. You're also right that an oncologist isn't the correct person for this....you need a surgeon to do the biopsy first to determine what the heck that lump is. Good luck - I'm rooting for you that the lump will prove to be benign. Ellen

I was checking back on my original string & read the 2 other posts at the end & the last post in particular made me remember something the surgeon had mentioned to me that not only did he see & feel my lump but there were 3 or 4 other lumps he either felt or saw on the oposite side of the same breast. I was surprised because I never felt them. also, I'm 47 if I haven't already said so..& I'm 2 years post menopausal.

Julie, I agree with Ellen, you are doing the right thing getting a referral to another surgeon. (please excuse my memory, I forgot that you usually don't see an oncologist until after surgery) Keep in mind that whatever the surgeon does - HE doesn't have to live with it, YOU do. Whatever you decide we're rooting and praying for you

well, I've got an appt. w/my gyn for August 3rd. it is the first opening she has in fact somebody canceled...otherwise i'd probably be waiting 3 months to see her like i had to the 1st time! anyway, thanks again for all your encouragement, not sure i would have had the courage to follow through on this if not for all of you...i would have probably though i was being paranoid & silly. now i know i should definately follow my own instincts on this one after hearing from all of you! I feel amoung friends here! Julie
