I was just told by "chemo club" that Folfox 6 Protocol is 12 rounds, 24 weeks, NOT 8 rounds, 16
weeks as I had previously been led to believe.
Just "recovered" from round 7, which was the worst so far in respect to side-effects, 'cause they took me off Oloxi-(anti-nausea) and gave me
reglan-(was getting Oloxi-(SP?) and decadron), and this combo causes lots of constipation w/some nausea and no vomiting. Without the Oloxi, I had
nausea AND vomiting day 1-6, along with assorted other side effects..I'd rather have nausea and constipation w/o vomiting,so I guess it's back to the Oloxi/decadron next time.
So far I've tried Kytril, Zofran, Emend & Avitan in combo with the Aloxi & decadron, but everything except the Avitan seems to add to rather than allievate side effects;

Anyone on this protocol have any suggestions?

    Hiya Bud--gee mate--yu are having a hard time of it.Can't offer a lot mate but in oz I was given a med. called METOCLOPRAMIDE----brand name over here is PRAMIDE.
    This stopped the vomiting although there was still the nausea feeling.
    Maybe you could put the name to your onc.
    Hope yu can find some relief shortly Bud.

    Hi Bud, I was beginnning to worry that we hadn't heard from you in a while, and now I see why. I'm so sorry that you are going through such a tough time. I also don't have much to offer, but I sure agree that no vomiting and some constipation would be an easier combo.
    Hang in there; I find thinking of each week at a time seems better than thinking of the weeks ahead.

    Bud, So sorry to hear that you are having such a difficult time right now. Hang in there. I know you must be getting VERY tired of all these treatments. Take care and you deserve to "whine" (or wine) all you want.

    Bud I am so sorry that you are having such a rough time. You have exausted all the drugs that helped me except for compazine. That one made me too sleepy to be tolerable, but may be worth experimenting with if you have not tried it.

    Unfortunately Jen, in the US, Reglan is the common brand name for the drug metaclopramide

    Here is hoping that you find something that helps you out soon.

    Bud, I am so sorry that you are having such a bad time. I am afraid I have no suggestions but just wanted to tell you that you are in my thoughts and prayers! I do hope that things will improve for you soon!
