Bladder reconstruction questions

My husband has had three tumors re-occur in his bladder. Has gone thrugh all of the advised methods for removal, each time it has come back in a more aggressive form.The last tumor was pronounced "ominous" by the surgeon. He is now undergoing chemo (into his third round) prior to bladder removal. He is confused and concerned about which was to go as far as bladder replacement. Has anyone had experience with the neo-bladder, the one reconstructed from colon? Also, anyone with experience using the bag? And which way is the best way to go with that? We understand there are two different way. Three choices and no input, thus far, from anyone in this circumstance.     I am going thru the same process of trying to make a decision. I too have had three tmors removed but my doctor does not believe in chemo or radiation. He is a proponent of a neo bladder which is his specialty. However, in his case he does not use the colon but a portion of the small intestine. I am now trying to obtain a second and third opinion before commiting. In reading input from others, with only one exception, everyone seems to endorse the neo bladder concept.     Hi Chooser, I'm going to try and e-mail you later for all the information you seem to have. And I miss-typed. It is part of his intestine that will be used for the neo-bladder. Actually, from everything I've read, it sounds as if a part of his intestine will be used no matter which of the three choices he goes with. That was one thing he wanted to avoid.     I had colon cancer & bladder cancer at the same time,they removed the bladder and took the cancer part of the colon out then used 12 to 20 inches to make the new bladder,now I have what they call a neo bladder. I'm trying to locate anyone who has had this done for a yr., or more. If you want info on what I think I'll wait for your reply. My surgery was done in Az, cancer inst.

    On the neo bladder, who is everyone, I've had it done 12/26/03,let me know what info your after it's not all you think.
