STAGE 4 BREAST CANCER

HI FIRST TIME EVERY POSTING ANYTHING. MY MOM IS 50 YRS OLD AND HAD BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH STAGE 4 MESTATIC BREAST CANCER. SHE HAD JUST PASSED HER 5-YR MARK POINT WITH HER FIRST BATTLE. THE FIRST TIME SHE HAD A DOUBLE MASECTOMY W/CHEMO. WE ARE STUNNED AND SCARED OUT OF OUR MINDS FOR HER. THE ODDS WE WERE HANDED ARE NOT THE BEST. I'M DESPERATELY TRYING TO FIND SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN HERE AND IS STILL HERE. THANK-YOU.

    I won't be the only one who will say that you to, but I am very sorry that you and your siblings will have to face this hurdle. You will soon find through your journey that there are many out there with stage 4 and continue to lead relatively normal lives, what ever normal may be. I am so glad to hear your mother has been on top of her health and was diagnosed, the unknown is worse.
    Best wishes to you and your mother, know that you are in the hearts of many.
    I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer with 11 out of 21 positive nodes and am now a 7 year suvivor. Hold on tight to your mother for she will need you now more than ever.

    Hi Amy, hummer here, I was diagnosed with breast cancer 6/2000 with bone metastasis 8/2001, so I've been stage 4 for almost 3 years now. I am doing well by the grace of God. For more info on my story go to my website www.urcctc.com

    Hi,

    I will be 50 in a couple of months and I was diagnosed Stage IV in November 1998, so as you can see it has been 5 years since then and I am doing great. I am in the breast cancer vaccine trial right now. There is always hope, so don't give up. God is an awesome God and He has been faithful to me. The statistics on Stage IV are very scary, but just remember your mom is not a statistic, she is a person. She will need your love and strength. Just be there for her. If you need any more help, I am here and so are many other women on this site.

    Hi Amy,

    I am sorry to hear about your mother. I am 48, have stage 4 breast cancer which has metastisized to my lungs. I was initially diagnosed in 2001, had a mastectomy and chemo (no evidence of metastises), but it came back in my other breast in 2003 and had spread to my lungs. While I am obviously not thrilled, I am hopeful that a lot can be done. Let me know if you want to hear more and I will give you all the details. I'll be thnking of you, your Mom and your family.

    Hi Amy, sorry to hear but keep positive for yourself & your Mom especially. I was diagnosed March 22 2004 with Stage IV & I recently started a Clinical Tral via Johns Hopkins. I am taking Dexamethasone, Herceptin and once a month I get Herceptin along with Doxil & taxotere. With God's help Im dealing little by little each day better then I was April 1st when I started. I was 18 years out until rediagnosed in 04, but I realized this is not a sentenced it was the way the cards were dealt. Keep strong for your Mom & I will pray for both of you.     Hello. I was diagnosed in 97 @ age 47 and relapsed in 99 with mets to the bone and liver. i am still very much here!! I am sorry to hear your Mom had a relapse. This disease is no longer a death sentence even at stage 4. However, it does become a roller coaster ride of enormous proportions. Every time one or another drugs has failed to stop the cancer..something new has come up. The support of family and friends is the most crucial of all and your Mom can obviously depend on you aand I am sure on others in the family. Take very good care of yourself..if your Mom sees that you are ok....she will be ok. Depend on other people to help also and don't try to take the whole problem on by yourself. I call this a FAMILY disease. I wish you and your Mom the best.

    I think there's life after breast cancer. In my mother's day, because the medical community thought it was a death penality she died, if she'd been in treatment in my time of cancer, she might have reached her goal of 60 years.
    I call my two daughters my angels, because though each hard time they've been there to support and confort me, your mother is blessed as I am. Hang in there, each day's a blessing.

    What was your original treatment and what are you doing now. Congrats.I am newly diagnosed with bone and liver and am worried if I am getting the right treatment. Suzy.

    I was just dx with liver and bone mets. Satge 3a 15 node er pr + What were your teatments. I am happy to hear your doing weell. suzyb
