High-Dose Interleukin2

I have undergone 6 cycles thus far, with hopes that only 2 more will produce that elusive "clear" -- my new favorite word that I so desparately want to say.

My team & I have acheived a 50% reduction in the melanoma masses -- I was heavily metastasized.
I would like to visit with any fellow HD-IL2 travelers. I would like to hear your story.

    Hi Brad, My thoughts are with you for an all clear from your Dr. My Dad has been diagnosed with stage IV metastic melanoma. He has been advised by his Dr. to begin an experimental treatment called ILX651 phase II it's a treatment which is administered for 5 days with an IV and then a 2 weekbreak in between the next series of interluken. Does this sound like the treatment you recieved if so would you please describe the effects of the treatment.My Dad is scheduled to begin treatment soon and would love to hear from someone who has been through it.     Hi, Eileen! I am sorry that your Dad and your family are having to contend with this particular beast. Know this and be confident: it can be beaten.

    I don't know anything in particular about ILX651, or how it may be different from Interleukin-2, but I undersand that anything interleukin-based have most of the side-affects in common. The scheduling you describe is very similare to what I started with, but I have had to put more time in between the cycles because I was saturating from the high-dosing of the interleukin2. I will not sugar-coat this experience: it has been the most difficult time of my life. But I can already begin to smile knowing I have fought well and am winning. ...and of course not alone.     Please tell your Dad that he ...can ...do ...this. He must be prepared to give himself over completely to the medical staff and to God. They can care for and direct the repairs to his damaged 'vessel', but that he does have the most important part of the job -- holding on to hope, and believing that it is natural now to live beyond cancer - even metastatic melanoma. Univ of Louisville tells me they haven't lost anyone in 13 years! They finally admitted they weren't too sure about my case, but ...I'm still vertical!
