Sorry I've Been Out of Touch

Hello Everyone! I've been gone a few days (celebrated our 29th anniversary) and will be gone again a few days next weekend (birthdays), but wanted to touch base with everyone just to say hi and hope you are all doing well. I've replied to some posts when I can, but NO WHERE near how much I would like to reply....ah well, time just has a way of moving on sometimes without me.

As for Bert, he continues to do very well on 5fu/lecu/oxal. Tired the first three to four days, but's that's really about all...AMEN!!! At his last onc visit, he asked how much longer with the chemo (by end of March, he will have been on since August...first just 5fu/leuc and then new onc added oxaliplating because of Bert's high risk for recurrence)and onc says he really doesn't know at this point. Because his CEA continues to flex between 5.9 and 6.1, another PET Infusion is scheduled for March 16...just 6 weeks after his last one which was ALL CLEAR!!! Onc just wants to stay on top of things, which I certainly can appreciate...but six weeks apart!!!! Why am I suddenly a little anxious again????? So, we will play the waiting game again until results are in on March 18. Keep us in your prayers for good results for my sweetie once again....PLEASE!!!

Mom's hanging in there. Goes for her Pet on March 29 followed by second appointment with new onc on April 9. If that little lung met has done anything at all, off to clinical trials we go. She's held this lung cancer off for 16 months now...God willing, he'll grant her some more quality time.

    Hi Monika,
    Good to hear from you...hope the anniversary celebration was a good one. Hubby and I will celebrate 23 years in April...here's hoping for many, many more!!! It is nice to have the focus of real life events to keep this dragon from ruling our lives. It is hard not to be nervous, playing this waiting game.
    It's great to hear that Burt is tolerating this chemo so well...I don't know enough about why the onc's decide what they do, but if you have confidence in this guy, I'm sure he'll work out what's best for Bert.

    WOW! 29 years! CONGRATULATIONS! I'll turn 29 in September (The 5th. for anyone wishing to buy me a gift, I'm registered at Tiffany's - ask for Mr. Sponge Bob's registry) Since 29 is such an important birthday, I would expect all of my dear, dear friends here a CSN to splurge on me. I know that if I had known you when YOU turned 29, I would have splurged on you... HONEST!

    OK... I won't be 29, Monika. But if you still want to get me something at Tiffany's I will acccept it. Uh-oh... I'm gonna get banned for soliciting gifts...

    Hey - congrats and thans for the update. I suggest you get Bert some typing lessons for your anniversary!

    Hiya Sponge :)

    Yeah, we were just wet nosed kids when we got hitched...just barely out of diapers (lol). Just kidding...but we were spring chickens at the time..barely into our very early twenties (okay, so you guys do the math). I'm grateful for every wrinkle on our faces and every grey hair that appears because we are both HERE to get them.

    I got a good one for you Bob...I always say when it comes to my birthay that I'm celebrating the _____ anniversary of my 21st birthday. Gives em food for thought. :o).

    Monika, I did the 5fu/leuco/oxal+xeloda thing for a recurrance. After a couple of courses they did a ct scan to decide whether or not to continue the chemo. Maybe Bert's onc wants to see what's happening as far a shrinkage and stuff. They may be able to stop if it looks good. Here's hoping.

    So does SpongeBob have a new girlfriend named Tiffany? Are we supposed to go to her place and pick out gifts? This is a new one on me.

    Aspaysia who was married for six years. It felt like dog years so that would make it 42. I got you beat by...I have run out of fingers.
