I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease when I was 14 and again when I was 18. I have been in remission from that since 1993. I am 30 now and have just recently found out I have Thyroid Cancer and have had surgery and treatment already. I am interested in your study I read about through ACS CSN.
Thanks, Becci0 -
HiLauren... I found what I was looking for! How many years have you been without a possible post cancer realated occurance? What treatment did you receive as a child ? Where were you treated ? I had Cancer when I was five years old way back in 1963! Records are not real clear but indicate Hodgkin Lymphoma. At that time survival rate was not as good. I was treated with Cytoxin and External radiation. I was an experiment... a healthy child, and to me it wasn't that bad. Statistically I've helped in setting the side effect stats for external radiation of the 60's.. What we know today as the Typical side effects... Thyroid Cancer, Spinal Meningioma and Breast Cancer... so far.... and counting. I hope to be the oldest Cancer survivor! I am very much interested in your research and any information you might have for me to read... Thank you. Good Luck...0

Hi Becci, My name is Mari. I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease in 1963 I was five. I developed Thyroid Cancer 12 years later when I was 17. In 1976. Another tumor in 1977 (non malignant). another tumor (spinal meningioma) in 1997 and then Breast Cancer in 2000. (all believed to be relative to external radiation of the 60's)Doctors nor I were confidently aware of such side affects. Thyroid-- Yes when it happened, doctors did suspect it might. and they appoligized ! " but we gave you 12 years " They said! I have led otherwise a very productive life. I have two adult children ages 23 and 21 both beautiful, smart and perfectly healthy. I wish you the best. I know it must have been dificult going through this at such a vibrant age in your life. Stay tight with your doctors and detect early... Good Luck. Be safe and take the best of care of your self. Exersize has been essential for me.. Stay fit. If you would ever like to say Hi feel free. I am looking for adult survivors. I'd like to be the oldest one. For Hodgkins.Becci1 said:I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease when I was 14 and again when I was 18.
