Update on clinical trial

Hello All,

I went for my first treatment on mon the 23rd for my mets. I did get arm A...bevacizumab and taxol. This trial closes in June and the head of the trial said they have had a lot of good results. I hope that this treatment knocks my cancer down and is it is spreading like wild fire. I'm terrified!! I keep telling myself that I can fight and beat this...I sure hope God gives me that chance. First treatmet down and went fine. I get BEV and Taxol on week 1 and 3 and just taxol on week 2. Week 4 is my off week. I'm sure and I get more treatments I'll have more side effects. Thanks for your comments from my first posting...this is a very scary stage to be at.

    Dear Judie,

    So glad to read that you got in arm A of the trial. What is the drug bevacizumab? Is it something similar to herceptin? I took taxol for 12 straight weeks and am glad to share any questions you may have on this drug. You are not alone - there are so many of us out there. You have every right to be terrified but just don't let the fear grip you and hold you. We don't want to give the cancer any power over us! Many women are winning this battle and there is lots of hope that you will too. I read an article the other day that they expect another huge increase in drugs for BC in the next five years. Every one of them better than the last.

    Dear Judie,
    Hang in there girl. If I'm not mistaken the drug you are on is a VEGF (cuts off blood supply to the tumor). Supposed too be very promising group of drugs. I'm surprised they told you what arm you were in though. Good luck and God bless. hummingbyrd

    Hi Ruth,

    I'm not sure on the difference between bev and herceptin. I am her2 -. Bev aka avastin is to choke the blood supply that a tumor needs to grow. I heard that taxol comes with hair loss, muscle ache and tingling in the toes and fingers...did I miss anything? I have only had 1 treatment, my second is next mon. I will remain on this as long as it is helping. (I have mets to lungs and liver). I hope I'm doing this right.
