I am an RN student and I would like to know what the nurses who care for you could do to better help you? I'm anxious to get your feedback! Please reply!

When I was diagnosed and then later in treatment, the nurses were so wonderful. They took care of my needs with compassion and never made me feel like I was whining or acting like a baby. I was very scared but they were encouraging. A back rub with lotion was heaven. Just doing everything with compassion and giving encouragement would be extremely helpful.

One of the things that concerns my nurses and IBC is they think they are hurting me and are too tender. Believe me, IBC is very painful, but on the inside of the skin, not necessarily the surface. However I do prefer paper tape in my port area over the plastic. I have had IBC for 3 yrs now, in nearly constant treatment. (Her2+, ER/PR-)
