Hi everyone,
Just wanted all to know that I had my first chemo treatment on this past Tuesday and everything went very well. It took seven hours because they ran the treatment very slow. At one point they tried running it faster but I began to have pains in the chest so they slowed it down again. I haven't felt ill and haven't had to take any anti nausea medication. I am so thankful for all the advice I received and pray that things will continue to go well for me and everyone out there who is battling this disease. God Bless.

Great news that you aren't sick but take note that a lot of times it gets worse with each one. If it's taxil/carbo combination it will always take 7-8hrs. That is the chemo drugs I had and by 3 or 4th one I was getting really sick but had 8 treatments total. I'll pray all your news is good and the chemo kills all the cancer cells. Take care and keep us posted. BonnieR

I had carbo/taxol, and it almost always took seven hours or so. I didn't have bad effects immediately from the drugs, but two days after I would feel pretty punk for a couple of days. Good luck, and eat good food-it's the best thing you can do for yourself now. I'm grateful that my mother-in-law would send dinner for my husband and I home with him the days I had chemo.

Best of luck, and don't be afraid to ask your doc or whoever is administering the drugs as many questions that you need to to feel comfortable!

I would add that I found it wonderful that I could drive myself to the cancer center and home after treatment. I was afraid I wasn't going to feel well enough to do that.

Glad to hear you're feeling okay after your chemo. I'm having a similar experience. I agree with the other ladies. Each treatment can be different. But, keeping up your strength with continued activity and good nutrition helps. I got this next peice of advice from this discussion room; boost your vitamin and mineral regimen with an additional B-6, Magnesium and Folic Acid supplements (I take mine in the late afternoon). This helps with any possible neuropathy not being so bad. Keep your medical team in the loop about everything. A continued upbeat attitude works wonders, as well.
