Hi! I have been on tamoxifin for about 6 months. I was having trouble with night sweats and hot flashes so my doctor put me on effexor. It helps for a while but now the night sweats and hot flashes are back. Has this ever happen to anyone else? If so, what did you do? Thanks in advance. Ida

Minnie, I had the same reaction, so I opted to be taken off the effexor, and just deal with the sweats. The less chemical I need to put into my body the better. Just use alot of fans, and get used to cold showers. I'll take that over drugs anyday. This to will pass and lessen in time. Or last but not least, you can move to Alaska.LOL
Good luck in what ever you decide.

HAPPY FANNING!!!!!!!!*BLOWING COLD AIR YOUR WAY!!*

I'm on Arimidex and have the hot flashes too. Not so much at night as all other times. More sensative if it's hot in the room or out of doors. I live in Wyoming so winter time is great but it still gets hot in the summer. I find geting my feet into cool water helps along with a cool rag around my neck. I too don't want to take anything for them. Too many meds.
The bright side is we only have to be on the med for 5 years. Something to look forward to. I am sending cool(cold) WY wind your way! Beth

Hi, I started on Arimedex and the hot flashes & muscles stiffness was bad so Doc put me on femera. Got better but now I am having a lot more hot flashes and mood swings. I see doc again in a week. I started an acupuncture study to relieve the symptoms but they got worse. Go figure!

Oh YES! I am on tamoxifen and have been since June. Same story but I asked my OB/GYN, who had initially put me on 1, 75mg effexor a day for perimenopause( I am 46), what he thought I should do. He suggested a second pill. I now take a dose of 2 and it has helped greatly. I had already experimented with 2 during Chemo due to depression type feelings. I know a lot of people deal the "natural" way and of course we all have to find the best path but I am very happy with effexor er. I have small hot moments and those only come infrequently from 6 pm- 12M. I don't find them intrusive. How funny, after all the other treatments how could it be more intrusive!Good Luck and may God help you find your way to relief. Candy
