I just got back from Austin, Tx where I attended the komen race for the cure. What an awesome experience. I believe I heard there were about 16000 participants and about 700 survivors signed up for the race/walk. Of course I walked,lol. I was very emotionally moved by the experience and met some great people. If my pictures turn out well I will try to post them. Was thinking of everyone while I was there. Love to all. Sharon

    I hope I can find the courage, strength and stamina to be able to walk one day as you have done, Sharon. I am always afraid of being the sobbing wreck of the group, although there are doubtlessly more than a few participants with leaky waterworks, too. I'm so proud of your accomplishment because I know I'm not there yet. You are an inspiration. Hugs, Denise

    I attended the Race here in Denver on 10/12 where there was over 60,000 people, 2nd only to the national race in D.C.! I was proud of myself for walking the 3 miles (considering 2 months prior I could barely get my bald butt up the stairs), and I'm very proud of the people of Denver for the exceptional turn out. It's fun, very emotional and very uplifting. Even if you can't run or walk the race, you can go and be a part of the suvivors ceremony. Good luck to everyone and congrats to Sharon! Judy

    I have heard the race in Austin, which has a hilly terrain, is so spectacular because you have a better idea of the tremendous participant turnout as it snakes around the route. I walked in the Houston race on 10/4 with my daughter who came home from college to walk it with me for the second year. It was especially meaningful because it was the first anniversary of my last chemo and my friend and neighbor whose treatments overlapped mine was there with me, both of us wearing our pink shirts and whooping it up! What is so touching is to see so many friends and family (26,000 participants including 1500 survivors) who are helping us fight this battle, That is inspiring and encouraging to us all! It just so happens that today is the first anniversary of my mastectomy. I recall so vividly waking from surgery with that *first day of the rest of my life* feeling! God has truly blessed me and I'm off to celebrate with my four sisters, cousins, and 92-year-old aunt (Talk about awesome!) for a girls' weekend.

    I walked in the Oklahoma City race it was an experience that really lifted me up.
