Blood Test

A friend of mine stopped me yesterday in the store and said I'd better make sure that I always have my blood tests done. I had a lumpectomy in July, and radiation. No chemo needed. I go for follow up in January. Does anyone know what blood tests she is talking about?
Thanks, Laura

I can tell you what I get......
CBC complete blood count for anemia
CMP complete metabolic profile checks kidneys,
liver, potassium, calcium, glucose....
CEA carcinogenic embryonic antigen 'tumor marker'
CA27.29 this is also a 'tumor marker'. These tests are supposed to go up in value if there is cancer activity, but they aren't always accurate. That's it for me! Hope it helps. hummingbyrd0 -
Ugh - My doctor has told me that there is no blood tests needed - Is that not true? I had a tumor 3 cm and also had mascetomy with chemo. He says that means I am cancer free? So no blood tests unless I have symtoms???? Should I ask for one anyhow? I will be interested in your tests Laura. Cammie0
