New to site...and Kidney Cancer

A few weeks ago I was in the hospital with Diverticulosis. (Sorry if I misspelled it) While undergoing tests for that, they found my left kidney has a cyst. A common renal cyst is clear like a bubble, my dr explained, but mine is like many bubbles and he feels it is cancerous, but won't know till the kidney is removed.
I've been reading a lot...probably not the wisest thing for me to do...and now, am more concerned. I had hoped that the removal of that kidney would end the problem...but understand that it can return as much as ten years from now.
I lost my Dad to cancer two years ago. I sure don't want my family to go through all that with me too. Are there ever instances where a person gets cancer...and nevvvvvvvver has it again? And does anyone know where I can find a healthy diet for both kidneys and colon? This monday I will have my kidney removed...and part of my colon while I am open. I guess I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed and don't want to upset my family by talking about it.
In closing...this is a wonderful site...and I thank you for giving me a place to turn.
God bless...eve

I will keep you in prayer. Tell your family all about it. I thought I had to be a perfect happy person, but that's a lie. God wants us to be open and honest. That way there's nothing hidden in corners. I'm learning. I was a great mask wearer. I'm getting through that now.

My doctor told me that since the kidney was gone, I could never get cancer in it again. Ho, ho, very funny. BUT, the truth is, he said, that if the surgery removes all the cancer associated with that kidney, then you have no more chance of getting cancer than anyone else in the world. I hope your surgery went well.0

Hi Eve. My name is Robin. I am 25 years old and in my 12th month of survival. I was shocked to find out I had cancer only days after Christmas 2002. My son was 4 months old. My doctors told me to never expect to have cancer again. I hope not!! I just wanted to say Good Luck with everything. You are in my prayers.0
