hepatocellular carcinoma resection

I am a 63 year old female. I had liver resection 2/03 that removed a large hepatocellular (12 cm)carcinoma from lower right liver. No report of spreading in tests, so no treatment other than the surgery. In September had a CT & MRI that showed a shadow on right lobe. I am now scheduled for a needle biopsy on 10/22 with doctor consult on 10/31. My only symptons now and before the surgery is pressure and pinching below right ribcage. Share you experiences with me? i am 46. had the resection and now they are going to remove the whole right lobe. that is scheduled for the first week in december. my tumor was not as large as yours, only 3x5 cm. during the surgery and all the tests before showed negative for cancer. only during the post op biopsy did the cancer become apparent. i then developed peurisy on my right lung with four more days in hospital. the guess what????? i get an abscess in the surgery spot. four more days in hospital. i have had so many antibiotics in the last forty days that i am probably risk free for anything else. course i am somewhat gun shy. waiting on the next thing to pop up. i am not looking forward to the next surgery, the first one was not any fun. but i would rather do it now than later iguess. let me know how you are doing.PjStone said:I am a 63 year old female. I was 16/17 years old when I was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma in 1991. I had four tumors and a resection operation that lasted 10 1/2 hrs. I had follow-up cisplatin and doxorubicin chemotherapy. In 1999 at 25 I had primary bladder cancer which was burnt out via cyscoscopy.cabins said:i was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma, primary liver cancer.
I am four years clear at the moment.0
