Update on the DR scene

Hi everyone,
Went to my surgeon's last week, haden't seen her since right after the mamogram last November. She was a bit suprised with the problems I've had with the abdominal wound after the tram flap. Sent me to another Plastic Surgeon, I loved him, He answereed everyone of mine and my daughter's questions. And my daughter had alot of questions. He feels he can "Fix" the problem and close the wound and make my belly even and less bulging. He was very non-commital as to any comments about the other plastic surgeon's work. I'm scheduled in late October. Problem now is this new doc does not participate with my insurance. I am going to try to bully my insurance into working with this guy by bringing up the fact that there are only 2 plastic surgeon's within 3 hours of my home and the other one is the one who did the original surgery.     I will wish you luck, and pray for your insurance company to get their head out of the sand. The overall picture of you going to this plastic surgeon vs the other is dollars in their pocket. I hope all goes well with you and good luck. Cammie

    You go girl! You got the right doc, now tackle the insurance company. Legally I think they will have to provide for you and I'd even ask for provisions at the PPO level! Usually 80/20 and just to cover all bases I'd take pictures for documentation. Just a thought. hummer

    Good luck with the insurance company. A friend of mine had to go to the governor of our state when her daughter was diagnosed with leukemia and the insurance company tried to force her to go to a certain hospital. She fought and won! Do whatever you need to do. I will be praying for you...Cheryl

    Good luck! Take no prisoners! Insurance companies are difficult and you have to play hardball with them. I am not telling you what to do and by making a suggestion, I am not implying you cant deal with your problems.... However, one idea I have is to write down as many payment alternatives on paper, so you are prepared for the discussion with insurance. Maybe payments over time, or agreeing to increasing your payment due inorder for them to approve this new guy. Anyway, I wish you lots of luck and prayers!
