Has anyone taken etoposide? If so, can you please share your experiences?

ALS, I'm sorry to say that I have never heard of this one but I know that you are dealing with your mom. Are they giving her yet another drug or are they just talking about it? I just read about it but I have no experience with it. Please let me know how things are going.

Yes.. She's taking this one as of a few days ago. Gemzar and Doxil didn't work so well on her. I'm hoping that the Etoposide/Vepesid/VP-16 works!! I found more info. about it on the Sloan-Kettering site. I'll write back after we receive an update from her Doctor.. Take Care, ALS260 -
Hi als,
I am in remission from leukemia, and part of my treatment consisted of VP-16 (etoposide). I recieved combination chemotherapy while recieving VP-16, but I remember having painful sores in my mouth and throat, which were treated with pain medicines. I also had nausea which was minimized by taking oral anti-nausea medicine. I have some more information about VP-16 at my leukemia website in the "Chemotherapy" page. Here is the link: www.geocities.com/leukemia_lymphoma
Please note that your mom should not have to suffer during treatment. There are effective pain management techniques available which may consist of narcotic use, however many physicians remain hesitant to use this method due to misinformation regarding addiction. I have a section at my web site entitled "Pain Management" that provides more information regarding the benefits of pain medicine and myths that stigmatize narcotic use. I hope this information helps you.
