I had a lumpectomy in October 2002 followed my chemo and radiation. I completed my treatments in May but the tenderness and the sorenees is still there. My doctor informed me that this is to be expected. How long does this last?

I have been through what you have. My DR. said it would take a WHILE , that is if it ever goes away. I finished chemo and ra. the first of Sept
last year. I coudn`t take the 5 year pill. too many side effects. Mind was lobular 2 cm.
I`m still trying to get my strenght back.

I completed all my treatment in April and was having pain in my right breast(where I had the lumpectomy and radiation), also pain under my arm around my incision, and some swelling. The very very wise nurse at my onc's said "Try wearing a different bra." I was happily wearing the same water bras I had worn before my diagnosis. Well, I started wearing those bras that are made of panty hose, oh so chic, fabric. Guess what? No more pain or swelling. That doesn't mean I still don't have some minor discomfort once in a while, but the difference is amazing. Give it a try. Stephanie0
