I had got fired during my chemo treatments and my husband had gotten laid off. Employers freak when there is cancer in the family. Today I went for a interview. I am so shocked, honored, amazed etc... The employer knows of my cancer, she knows I am a juvenille diabetic, she knows I got fired from my job during chemo, she knows I have a surgery coming up in August and will be out for 2-3 weeks. And she still wanted me to come in for a interview. WOW! I mentioned how great she made me feel just in asking me. I feel on top of the world. She said - You have cancer, your not dead. I have no problems with hiring you I feel confident in you and your honesty. There are good people. I don't know if I got the job, but I feel terrific anyway. Cammie

    I know there are good people out there. My employer has been very supportive, holding my job open for me for 6 months while I went through treatments. I wish I could say as much for my husband of 20 years who has told me I deserved cancer and wants a divorce (and he's getting it, believe me).

    Sometimes the most kindness can come from strangers. Hang in there and look for the good in people, I still think there is more good than bad in the world.

    I have also found that sometimes the most kindness and helpfulness comes from total strangers. Cammie, it is so great that your job interview went that way. Three cheers for the employer. If you have not done so already, send a short note to say you appreciated the opportunity to come in for an interview and look forward to contributing to the work of the company. I was so sad to learn that you were fired during chemo, and even more distressed to hear that your husband was laid off. Am wondering whether that was done to avoid an increase in the health insurance premiums of the companies involved. Shame on both of them. Love, Denise

    After my husband got laid off I took the insurance at my work. I got fired 5 days later. Im sure insurance had a lot to do with it. Thanks for the support Denise
