Wonder What is a Survivor?

Was involved in a cancer relay a couple of weeks ago and finally discovered the definition of a cancer survior. You don't have to wait until that magic number 5 year, or even wait for the first 2 year goal marker, just getting through that first discussion with your doctor when you hear the word "cancer" makes you a survivor!! As a 16 month survivor from hearing the words "tonsil cancer"and with 9 1/2 months past the end of treatment just want to say "hang in there, it does get better!" Support research if you have any funds left after treatment, for that is where a lot of our future hope lies. The faith to endure comes from God and your caregivers....and other survivors, too!! So just remember ---YOU ARE A SURVIVOR!!

As a added note, I finally found a great website that has more information than I ever received from my doctors. Look at oralcancerfoundation.org. They have a wonderful support group and up to date information on current research. Pass it on to your doctors and dentists!0
