Are you drinking a lot of water - at least 8 glasses a day esp. after chemo. I would say NO to any supplements during chemo - is is usually not recommended - maybe a multi-vitamin but nothing else extra - they say it might interfer with chemo's work. Since it's only about three days, that should not be a big problem - check with your doctor for his/her opinion.
Good Luck! It's so nice when chemo is OVER!0 -
It always takes me a couple days to get on track! Lot's of water and prune juice works best for me. I hate the prune juice, I think it's nasty stuff but it works. Also make sure your eating lots of fiber, my dr. said it was ok for me to chew a couple fiber tabs every day. Good luck! Girl, I feel your pain! I also got constipated after my chemo. Everything shut down for about 4 days. When I finally mentioned it to my oncologist, he suggested 2 T. of milk of magnesia. If that didn't work, I was to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate and if that didn't work, an enema. Well, 2 T. of M of M was like dynamite! It worked and worked and worked! After that, I didn't wait the 3-4 days before I took it. I would take 1 T. the morning after my chemo and that usually took care of the problem. I tried stool softeners and they did nothing. But the little blue bottle did the trick. Ask your doctor first, of course, but I found it worked for me.
