What is going on with the swelling!

OK I finished a 12 week round of tazotere 2 weeks ago. I had some swelling in my left (surgery/no nodes) that I figured was the start of lymphadema so I got my oncologist to set me up with a physical therapist. Cool - No, that all happened over the last 2 days. Now, today I come home from work and my ankles are HUGE! What the heck is that about? Breast cancer has made me feel like a pregnant woman so many times I can't even count, now this? SO, why are my ankles swelling? What next?? Thanks-
Bald, colored nails- perhaps I can quit banking and become a clown- HaHA- I thank God I still have my sense of humor!

Ask your onc snookums, you may need blood tests to make sure everything is normal, kidney function, sodium, potassium, calcium...That's the first thing I'd suggest, the other is when did you start back to work? Could be the standing, knee hi pantyhose, etc. Lot's of things like that can cause your ankles to swell...and last, my ankles would swell off and on for 2 years after my chemo. I had AC x 4 and taxol x 4, so it could just be a side effect. BUT before we assume anything talk to your doc and see what he/she recommends. God bless. hummingbyrd0

I agree with hummingbyrd. Checking with your doctor is the first thing. But I can tell you that I'm on my 10th of 12 weekly Taxotere chemo sessions. My doctor checks my neck area, my breathing, my liver, the port, and my legs/ankles. My feeling is that swelling of the legs and ankles may be a common side effect. All the time I was on A/C, he never checked my legs.0

Did you ever get a medical answer to what was causing your swelling? I'm going through the same miserable thing now, for over three weeks. Everything is normal (i.e., kidneys, potassium, etc.), and I've had numerous scans (CT, PET) and ultrasounds on my legs, but no definitive answers. Please advise.0

I am going through swelling in my ankles, feet, hands, arms, even my palate has been swollen lately. I have been off chemo for six months and all of a sudden I'm swollen up. It doesn't all go away by morning. hmmm Between Christmas and New Year's, I called the doctor because it was so bad all over.0
