My name is Sharon and I'm a three year survivor. I was dx at 38 with invasive ductal bc. I had 6 months of chemo and then a bilateral mastectomy with tram-flap reconstruction. I volunteer at my local ACS as a Reach to Recovery volunteer coordinator and heard about this Network. I know first hand how comforting a group like this can be. I thought I'd drop in to say hello and wish everyone well in their journey.

Welcome aboard ! I am 41 dx with invasive ductal carcinoma Feb 03. Just started chemo, I will have 6 cyles of taxotere and cyboplatin along with Herceptin. I was node neg and opted for lumpectomy, but was Her2+ so Chemo was recommended to prevent any spread or reoccurance. Look forward to chating with you. Congratulation on 3 years C free!

Hi, Sharon! I also had bilateral mastectomy Feb 20 and just finished 3 months of Adriamycin/ Cytoxan. In 3 weeks I start the last 3 months of chemo with taxol, so I'm half done. It is so great that you are now a Reach to Recovery volunteer. ACS's Look Good/Feel Better program made such an enormous difference for me that I'm certain ACS volunteers cannot even imagine how much their efforts mean to someone lost in the fog of initial terror. A million blessings to you! Love, Denise

Rascal, YES there is something the dr can give you for nausea, and it can work, they should have offered it to you right up front. Sharon, welcome and congrats on 3 yrs free. I can't wait to say that. I'm right smack in the middle of chemo (which is the same as Denise's) and still have radiation and 52 wks worth of herceptin to go. Bless you for your volunteer work, people like you make our lives much brighter. Do visit the chat room sometime.

    Hi Marilyn,
My name is Michael and I am a leukemia survivor. I just want to say that I am sorry to hear that you are very nauseous and your Dr is not doing anything about it, however this is a common problem. THere are medicines out there that can certainly help with the nausea. Some medicines that I took are: Zofran, Marinol, Ativan, Benadryl, and Kytril. Maybe you can mention these medicines to your doctor. Take care and God bless.
