I was diagnosed with Stage Ic BC in 1995 status post mastectomy without RT or chemo. I have been having increasing complaints of pain in my lower right abdomen and low blood sugar symptoms. A friend of mine who is a cancer survivor himself suggested I ask my Onc to do a PET/CT scan of the upper abdomen at least. Has anyone every gone this route or had one of these? I have been ignoring these pains because I figured it was just adhesions. Also, I have trouble starting to urinate. Any thoughts appreciated.

Do you still see your oncologist for follow-up? At this point you should be followed at least annually for labs to include tumor markers, mammogram. If you are having abd. pain, it would be wise to have a CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis. It isn't likely that it is the cancer and could be adhesions or any number of things. Pain is never normal and warrants being checked out. A Pet scan is usually done when cancer is suspected or when a differential diagnosis is needed. See the doctor and try not to worry.

Mary Ann, what ever you do, see you onc as soon as you can. Chances are the sooner you go, the sooner you know it's nothing, and can stop worrying. But also do it because we all know in here the earlier you take care of something the better. Let us know when you get your dr appt, and I'll send positive thoughts your way.
