I finished chemo 3 weeks ago. Will start radiation in one week. Am anxious and I don't know why. Has anyone else experienced this feeling? Also have started arimidex.

That down feeling is normal. When you're so fragile, then all the attention and things settle down, it's normal to feel that way. I am on Effexor which keeps my mood swings pretty normal. I was forced into menopause with the chemo. I was very anxious going into radiation and was nauseaus for the first 3 days of radiation. The nurses kept saying "radiation doesn't cause that, it's just your nerves". I thought they were nutty or something, but it was true. Once you're in the swing of it, it's very routine. I used to hang up my wig on the coat rack and lay down like I was getting a tan. (the ridge of the wig dug into my head)

YEs, Debbie, I get that every now and again too, and had that right before starting radiation. It is partly because you don't know what to expect, I'll bet. While I was taking chemo I felt pretty good, thankfully, but now that I am done ( 2 months ago) I feel better and better each day, and you will too! Prayerangel is right, radiation will become routine and the days will just fly by as you feel better and better!

My 2 worst panic attacks were my 1st chemo treatment and my last, then I got to radiation.....thought I was going to drive them all nuts asking so many questions.
How do you know you won't over rad me, destroy my lungs...how do you adjust doses for a 100# woman vs 300#'s...will it affect any other part of my body? on and on and on...but they were great, and that was 2 lumpectomies and 2 bone mets ago. Last treatment 9/01, what you're feeling is normal, you'll do fine! God bless. hummingbyrd

I've not had to do the chemo or radiation but I know about the anxiety. I have never suffered from anxiety and had my first full blown panic attact a couple of weeks ago. I was sure I was going to die, made my daughter take me to the ER. No reaccurance to that degree but every once in a while the fear or panic seems to rise up and grip my chest. I am more fearful of more things then ever befor. Knowing that its normal helps only a little bit. If it gets bad or you can't sleep discuss it with your physician. God bless and Good Luck!

If the feeling persists, there are lots of meds that can help. Anxiety or depression is not uncommon before, during and after treatment. Some of us are calmer during treatment and more anxious afterwards when we're not actively engaged in the daily fight. It's a lot to deal with. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
