Life Planning

I'm a 24 year old survivor of stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma (diagnosed aged 11). I have a degree and good job prospects and sometimes just want to be "normal" and have a life, career etc like my peers. However I find it difficult to plan ahead for the future. This is because I don't imagine myself growing old and have an overriding "live for the moment" attitude.Does anyone else have a problem picturing where they want to be in 5 years time? How do others get the balance right?

    Thank God, for everday you have been give a gift you life, try to live you life like every day is the last day, love, live and help the people who need it.

    I certainly know how you feel. Although I finished treatment more than 30 years ago making life choices has always been a bit different for me. In 1998 I founded the long term survivors discussion list at ACOR. There are over 300 hundred members. And your question is the kind of thing that we discuss frequently.     I'm 27 and two years ago I was admitted to the ER for a brain tumor, pediatric cancer (medulla blastoma). I'm finishing my degree (lack 2 hours) and I don't know what I'll when I'm done. I'm a slower on my right side, because of the surgery, so I kind of hesistate applying or looking for a job-I take denial personally. This is my first time on CSN, so I might sound strange, but I'm not, but I don't know what to say or do.

    I've been thinking a lot about balance lately because I do a little too much of thinking about either the past or tomorrow and not much about today. My goal is to spend 50% of my time just enjoying the here & now and 50% "planning" - not sure I can ever get there but at least with some focus I might get close!

    Hi I am a 42 yr old father. My son is 21 and recently had paratesticular rhabdo removed and is undergoing VAI chemo. Though he is in stage one, I love hime like crazy and I am really worried, but have great faith. Why are you so worried 13 years later? Please tell me what chemo treatment you had.     Hi Linda I am a 42 yr old father of 2 my youngest son 21 was recently diagnosed with Rhabdo. What was your cancer and what treatment did you have. I grew up with my kids and love them like crazy. My son is in stage one, for which we are very blessed, but am really battling, although I have great and new faith in the Lord. Any discussion please?
