Has anyone out there had a recurrence of breast cancer after chemo and radiation. I have a new lump that was biopsied and I only finished radiation in Dec2002. Feeling doomed!

Don't feel doomed. Whatever it is, it is treatable. It is hard waiting for the biopsy results to come back. That part really stinks. I'm sorry for what you are going through. One Dr. told me that there is always good news, even when there is a problem. Holding onto whatever the good news is helps you deal with the other part. Hope this helps. Love, Denise

i had breast cancer when I was 28. Didnot do tamoxifen then, wanted kids. Got again at 36. Did the whole chemo rad thing again and started tamoxifen. Got it again 4 yrs later while on tamoxifen. I dont feel doomed. Its all in how you look at it. I am now on arimidex, so will see. I had lumpectomey, mastectomey, mastectomey, oopherectomy and hysterectomy. Chemothree times radiation 3 times.....I am still here. My son is now 8. Lots to feel blessed for. Hang in there. If it is cancer you got early. Dont doubt yourself and your determination. You are a survivor. Email me if want to talk. Hang tough

Supermom don't feel doomed. Let go and let God. I was diagnosed in 99 with breast cancer, again in 2000, went through chemo came back in 2001, went through radiation. Right now I am okay. I don't know why some people stay cancer free and others don't but I do know God is there with me evrey step of the way.

Hang in there supermom! I was diagnosed June 2000, completed chemo and rad May 2001 and found a metastasis to other breast and right arm August 2001. Also had met to low back Sept 2001. Now on Herceptin, Zometa and Aromasin and thanking God for each beautiful day! Keep a positive attitude! Your days are already numbered, as are all of ours, we are here until He calls us home. Cancer or not live each day like its your last, because it just may be, don't focus on 'the diagnosis'. That's just Satan trying to scare you, and he knows fear can be our greatest enemy.
The answer to your question is 'no, your not a goner just because you had a recurrance in less than one year'. You may, according to the docs, be in a higher risk category, but so are you at a higher risk of dying if you smoke, live in a big city, drive a car, have high cholesterol...and so on and on and on! Relatively few of us worry about dying under those circumstances. Approach cancer the same way, you are a SUPERMOM! God bless girl, and hang in there, life's a battle, but in the end we still win! hummingbyrd
