Ovarian Cancer

I have to do a project on ovarian cancer for Bryan School Of Nursing
and present it to my class. I first need to find someone who has
experienced ovarian cancer and interview them. This is really important
because i want to be able to give them as much information on this
silent cancer so they understand why people may get it or maybe find
away to prevent it. I really would appreciate it if someone would let me
ask them questions. This is really important to me and i just hope someone
will respond.

    Hi Jamie,
    I saw you on the chat line last night, and I was browsing through the site this morning and found your message. I am a 2 1/2 year survivor of ovarian cancer. I would be more than happy to talk to you. I have only met one other person on this sight that has had ovarian cancer. On the chat room anyway. It tells me that there's not a great lot of us left. My doctors are constantly reminding me how blessed I am to be alive. You can contact me through the e-mail and let me know how we can do the interview.

    Jamie, I sent you an email through the discussion board last night. Please send me one back (I'm not quite sure how they work, but if you click on the "mail" icon, it's supposed to send a message rather than posting to the board) or if you received it. I included my email address. I was diagnosed in Sept. 2002 with ovarian cancer.

    Hi Jamie. I was first diagnosed in Dec. 1993 with Stage IV ovarian cancer. It recurred in Dec. 2002 and I am still in chemotherapy. Would be happy to answer any and all questions.

    Hi...I am a survivor of Ovarian Cancer Stage 1A (As your research probably has shown you, this is very rare). The surgery was in May 1999, and included a total hysterectomy.
    I give praise to God for protecting me, and am thankful to have had a wonderful surgical specialist operate on me!
    I would be glad to have an interview with you. We need to raise awareness for women and the medical professions. Thank-you, CJ

    I am stage 2a ovarian cancer. Diagnosed in Sept 2002. I completed the last of 6 chemo treatments last month. I would be happy to talk with you.

    I am responding to your comment of --having met only one person on the this sight with ovarian cancer--I am having the same experience. Are we really that rare? Would love to talk. I was diagnosed with stage2a in September 2002.

    Hi Jamie,
    I am a 22 year old from India. i was diagnosed with an ovarian tumour when i was 16. i underwent sugery where my left ovary was removed and after that i had to go through three sessions of chemotherapy as well. i have been cured. but even now i feel that the side effects of chemo have not faded away. i wonder if this is something i have to live with for life.

    hi jamie i saw your request and i would also be happy to talk with you. I was 24 when i was diagnosed w/ a very rare type of ovarian cancer. It is called ovarian germ cell. I have been in remission for 4 yrs now and i was recently blessed w/ the birth of my son which is trully a miracle that i was able to conceive so easily after removing my left tube and ovary and going through an aggresive chemo treatment. my e-mail is heatherdabr @aol.com if you want to talk. bye

    How did you know you had OVC at such an early stage? Were you bloated? sore? Please let me know.

    hi jamie I had ovarian cancer 5 years ago at age 45. I had 6 chemo treatments. I have a ca125 blood test every 6 months, and I'm feeling great. I would be glad to talk with about my experiences with having cancer. email me lfriend@newportrischools.org

    Dear Jamie,

    I was first diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in October of 1999. I went through the standard protocal and remained clean until January of 2002. I went back in chemo for a year but haven't been able to go into remission. I went off chemo to take a break from it in January of 2003. I was put on tamoxofin in the meantime. They tell me that this may lower my CA 125 after being on it for four months. The goal is to keep me off chemo as long as possible so the platinum drugs will work again when I go back on them...if the tamoxafin doesn't help. I feel pretty good-just lack energy. I gained quite a bit of weight from the drugs with this relapse.
    I keep myself busy. I see a Chinese woman who treats me with chi gung. I have been seeing her since my first go around and she really helps give me back my body's inner energy. I also take yoga from her and it really lifts my spirit. It is extremely important to keep your spirit within clean and focused. I never consider myself a cancer patient. I treat my illness as an "inconvenience." I try to never give in or feel sorry for myself.I don't let others have the chance to feel badly for me either and I always put forth that extra effort to keep up a good front.

    I'm Allison. My mother-in-law was diagnosed with satge IV ovarian cancer in Feb 03. She is having a VERY difficult time both emotionally and physically. Most of her problems now are coming from extreme depression which has lead to little or no physical activity. She has begun chemo, although a much milder dose due to her weakened state. I would love to be able to chat with you more if you are willing.

    Jamie: How did your project go?? I am an RN who lost my mom to ovarian cancer when I was in nursing school and am now undergoing chemotherapy for stage IIIC ovarian cancer that was diagnosed last December. Good luck on your nursing career. We need a lot more nurses out there!!

    I was diagnosed in Dec.2002 with stageVI. My ovaries had no sign of any cancer cells but had a mass between my liver and diaphragm, which was removed. The cells in this tumor where a closest match to ovarian cancer. I had cancerous fluid in the lining of my lungs. I've done almost a year of Chemo Taxol, cromoplatin and gemzar. Things looked good at the end of Dec.03, but now I'm having symptoms of a relapse. I had blood work and CT scan on Friday, and will know the results on Tuesday. I feel I have a pretty good attitude, but some days are tough. I'm 47, divorced and raising a 15 year old son who I want to see graduate from high school and hopefully college!

    I was diagnosed in 1/04 with stage 3C ovarian cancer, I had a lot of bloating (CA125 1400) and surgery was performed 1/16. After 8 sessions of chemo that ended in August 04 I have bloating again and my CA-125 was 37. Do you have any similar symptoms. I am a little discouraged, the surgery and chemo were so difficult, I hate to think of having to go through it again. Any encouraging words?? Thanks, dorothymonk@comcast.net

    I would love to connect with you I have been recommended the same number of chemo sessions...doctor said stage 3 but said it's contained to my pelvis and prognosis is good. Changing oncologists so a little delay in starting chemo.
