post surgery tramflap and skin sparing mastectomy

hI im 2 weeks post surgery . Ihad a bilateral mastectomy with tram flap reconstruction. My diagnosis was dcis stage 0. I do notneed chemo or radiation. I feel good. still a achy getting around. I am driving and moving about quite well. i get tired in the afternoon. I also had bilateral sentinal node biopsyies and removal of 6 lymphnodes. all negative. im having pain in myright arm around the elbow area which isintense in the morning at at intervals during the day. anyone experienceing this and any suggestins. tnks.

    Is it a shooting pain, especially if you try to straighten out your arm? I had that. My doctors told me it was probably some nerve damage from having my arm stretched out at an awkward angle during surgery. I would try to massage the arm, without straightening it too much. Eventually (about 3-4 weeks post surgery), the pain went away. Hope this helps you some. You may want to discuss it with your doctors. They may have other ideas and suggestiong.

    Hi. You gotta give your body some time to recup. It was major surgery you went through. I had the same operation in Feb of 2002 and I was kind of bent over for awhile afterward. No problem with the arm, just the stomach would not let me straighten fully. It gets better the more you heal. Sandy

    Be patient with the tram flap. I had mine with mastectomy on 3/26/03. Still out of work but exercising and walking...STill all wrapped in the mid section and sports bras... 3 of 7 lymph nodes were infected so I'm moving towards chemo next. Good luck to you!
