Has anyone gone through radiation treatment for vulvar or Barthelins gland cancer? My doctors want to do it, following excision, and I'm scared.

My mother passed away with vulva cancer in '91. I
got it in 1999. My mom had to have her vulva removed. It went into her lymph nodes and then it
traveled to the other lymph nodes.
I had a small bump on the skin between the two. A
Dr told me it was a genital wart but it wasn't, it was cancer. I didn't want surgery so I told the dr. just do chemo and radiation. My labia is
swollen and hard especially where the hair was. I
am doing hyperbarics right now because my oooweee
down below isn't healing due to infection.0 -
I went through 8 weeks, 5 days a week radiation and chemo following radical vulvectomy. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It worked. The cancer had spread to my lymph nodes and I had to have the treatments to hopefully get rid of the cancer cells. IT WORKED I HAVE BEEN CANCER FREE FOR 18 MONTHS NOW. I GO UP FOR MY SIX MONTH CHECK-UP IN JULY. Do it, you won't regret it.0

I haven't had radiation but have had multiple surgeries to remove vulvar cancer. Luckily, it has not spread to my lymph nodes.( I had them removed in the right groin and they were negative.)
But I know the fear and anxiety you are going through. Please keep in touch. You can e-mail me any time.

hi, I went through radiation 4 years ago for 30 sessions. it is scary but you just tell yourself you have to do it and then you can start putting the days behind you one at a time and before you know it your done. It dosn't make it easy as your going through it but one day behind you is one day less you need treatment. keep your chin up and best wishes0
