Surfing Isnt Dead

I have Osteosarcoma. A type of bone cancer. My surgery was in June of last year. Im 24 and love to surf, my doctor told me i wont be able to anymore but i beg to differ. I recently got me a longboard so im gonna try it out this summer. I was wondering if anyone else was having any problems with there leg since surgery. I have bad numbing pains in my foot and cant bend my leg all the way back. So what problems have you had with your surgery and have you found anyway to help it or decrease the pain?

    I don't have osteosarcoma, and so I haven't had leg surgery, but I wanted to tell you that my son has always wanted to learn to surf--he says it's a "Hawaiian thing" that he's just got to learn. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June of 2001, I promised him I would get better so that we could both learn when we went "home" to Hawaii to celebrate. Well, I've been out of treatment since July 2002, and I will make good on my promise to my son.

    God bless you, and don't ever let those docs tell you what you can't do--I've surprised a few with what can be done.

    Keep on surfing!!!!! I have had breast cancer a few times, and was told that I could never have children. Chemotherapy had killed any hopes of that. Well, my (natural born ) son will be 9 this year. Shows what they know. You surf on.. God bless you.

    Just checking in with you to see how you are doing.
    My son is 28 and in his third year of fighting this cancer.
    I am just scared and want to know how you are after this much time and did you ever surf??
