HELLO, I'M NEW TO THIS SITE, SO I'M REALLY NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. MY SISTER IN LAW WAS JUST RECENTLY TOLD SHE HAS BREAST CANCER. TODAY SHE WENT IN FOR A LUMPECTOMY, AND THE RESULTS WILL NOT BE READY FOR ANOTHER FEW DAYS. MY HOPE FOR THIS SITE IS NOT ONLY TO LEARN MORE ABOUT BREAST CANCER, BUT ALSO FOR ANYONE OUT THERE THAT HAS EXPERIENCED THIS, OR IS GOING THROUGH THIS AT THIS TIME, TO OFFER A FEW WORDS OF ENCOURAGMENT. I BELIEVE IN ANGELS, AND HAVE SEEN THEIR SHADOWS ON MY SHOULDERS, SO I HAVE SENT THEM TO BE WITH HER, TO SOMEHOW OFFER HER SENSE OF PEACE, AND HOPE, AND THE WILLINGS TO GRASP ALL HER STRENGTH AND BEAT THIS, SO SHE TO, CAN SAY SHE IS A SURVIOR!

The most important thing now is to be supportive of your sister-in-law and help her to be postive. I am recovering from Breast Cancer and the support I got helped me through. You have to be her angel and guide and help her along the way. It is a long road but being positive help make it a little shorter. Good Luck. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your sister-in-law. Use this site often for your questions. It is very helpful.0

Hi and WELCOME to this site. We are all survivors here and try to help you and your sister-in-law, so stop in often. Right now, until all the tests come back and your sister-in-law knows more what kind of treatment she will take, the unknown is the worst fear. Be supportive, think possitive and Believe that with gods help she will have the will and strength to fight this dreadful desease. If you or she has any questions at all, we are here for you. She needs your support to help her thru this crisis.
I had a lumpectomy 1 yr ago, 34 radiation treatments and 6 Mo of chemo. Finished last October. It is my second time with breast cancer. I am doing fine. Right now everything will be overwhelming but in time she will understand and realize she is not alone. I wish her the best. God bless you both.I will keep you in my prayers. (((hugs))) Emmi0 -
Hi, it's great that you are there to offer support for your sister-in-law. Usually the patient is so overwhelmed they can't even think for themselves, I know because I was diagnosed June 2000. There are a lot of good web sites out there that are very informative i.e. www.cancer.gov or WebMD or the National Institute of Health, I think you can just search nih.gov. Banker's right you will have to wait for path report before you'll even know what direction to take...but you've already taken the first step!
May God surround your sister-in-law with His angels of mercy and healing. Please Lord let her cancer be in an early stage and give her doctors the wisdom to treat her appropriately. We ask all these things in Christ' name. Amen.
God bless you for being so willing to step out for your sister. You can check our 'personal web pages' here if you want to read about others experiences and how they coped, and we also have email on this site. You're surrounded by kind hearted, loving women who will help you any way possible! Take heart, God will see you and your family through this trial. hummingbyrd0 -
May those angels bless and protect your sister-in-law. I thank my angels and God all the time for giving me the strength to beat my breast cancer and keeping me here to raise my children.
Aloha,

I'm new to this site, too; but I'm in the midst of being treated for breast cancer right now. Since the diagnosis, the surgeries, and the radiation treatments I have seen first hand the miracles of God and Angels on my shoulder. First, I was diagnosed on a "fluke." The comparison mammogram we requested from a different hospital never came in, and because I am often stationed overseas, we decided on a whim to take another mammogram for comparison purposes (4 months after the first mammogram showed only a "not to be concerned about" shadow.) Anyway, the ensuing biopsy was positive and treatment began. As I said earlier, I am usually stationed overseas, but was in the USA between one station and another, so was fortunate enough not to be in some 3rd world country when all this happened. (an angel?). Miracles? The other day I was driving down the interstate when two manhole covers flew off a truck and were heading straight for my windshield! I closed my eyes, ducked my head, tapped my brakes and wondered if I'd be buried in Arlington National Cemetary! I have absolutely no idea how those two flying steel plates missed me, but seconds later I was just continuing down the highway as before. (an angel?) Hmmm, I lost a hubcap off my car about a week or so ago.... yesterday, I was driving along the DC Beltway along a route I rarely take -- there on the side of the highway, propped up against the divider was MY HUBCAP!!! (an angel??) So what do those stories have to do with breast cancer? Nothing at all. They have to do with the power of God and Angels showing us in strange ways sometimes just how close they are to us!!! Aside from the miracles I have seen, my greatest motivation for myself has been to keep repeating, "Don't let yourself become a sick person, Kim." It makes me get up, get showered, get dressed, get out and do SOMETHING, ANYTHING with my day - no matter how tired I feel that day. My prayers are with you and your sister-in-law.0

Your sister in law is a very lucky person to have you supporting her like this. That is what she needs the most right now; someone that she knows will be helping her through this. One piece of advise I have is to have someone go with her to her appointments and treatments (if she ends up needing chemo or radiation). I was fortunate enough to have a wonderful husband that went with me to all my appointments and treatments. They throw so much information at you, especially in the beginning, that it is hard to take it all in. My husband would write everything down and then we could come home and talk about it. It was amazing how much I hadn't heard of what the doctor had said. My father died two months before I was diagnosed. A couple days before he died he called my sister and I his angels because we were helping to take care of him. He is now my angel watching over and taking care of me. Your sister in law will be in my prayers and please keep us posted on how she is doing. God bless...Cheryl0
