Hey vac, I am a 13 1/2 year survivor of breast ca. I was really scared all those years ago. Then in 1998 I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins lymphoma and was devastated. I picked myself up and have been fighting ever since. Keep the faith and the positive thoughts. You'll be okay. I have found so much support here at this sight that it has been a real blessing to me. You have a lot of support here. Prayers and positive thought go your way. God Bless. Sandee

Hey vac, don't worry, fear is your worst enemy! I had lumpectomy 6/2000 with 13 out of 27 + lymph nodes, it was 8 weeks before I started my chemo, and then I refused it after 2nd treatment for about 8-10 weeks and I'm still here! We need to talk girl. Post a note when you want to chat and I'll try to be there, 10:00 PM CST would be good for me tonite.((((HUGS))))and prayers.hummb

It is sad we would have to welcome another sister to our group. I am sorry for your pain and know well what you might be going through. I am 5 year survivor of Stage 3 very agressive breast cancer with 11 out of 21 nodes positive. Remission interesting, I consider my life is prolonged and I have some more good years if I am fortunate. I am a realist and was talked out double mastectomy which was a good thing since I had a raging staff infection that almost killed me 3 months after my surgery can't imagine what I would of been like had I had another mastectomy to deal with. I have to wonder why so many women choose this route. I couldn't see putting myself through more trauma on top of dealing with the cancer side affected. I usually didn't listen to my mother but took her advice, she is a nurse and said it would be too hard on the body. I listened. I opted not to do reconstruction feeling I had been through enough. I had the second mastectomy a year later cause I was getting more lumps all cysts.
One has to try to reduce the stress that we are feeling from having to go through such things and that just isn't easy. It isn't easy exercising those arms after surgery cause it really can hurt. If one doesn't exercise they can have a whole pile more problems to deal with. Seems I am still fighting for my health and try to do things to help myself along the way. You will find women can survive all kinds of things let alone many kinds of cancers, many times. I know of a woman in my support group that has had cancer 4 times and 3 different kinds. I can't tell you enough how humans can survive much worse than this, while still being able to have hope and often still find humour in it all. I resigned myself to the facts and somehow got through all the pain and my fears.
Be good to yourself, we will be thinking of you,
    Tara
