Hi,

I'm brand new here...just diagnosed with breast cancer on December 2nd, and looking to connect with others who know what this is like.

This place is *not* user-friendly, is it? The link to "subscribe" to this discussion group doesn't work ("Server Not Found"), I've followed the "Help" instructions to the letter and don't see *any* link/icon/whatever for any chat groups.

I'm an IT professional who is also feeling very overwhelmed by a medical condition. An exercise in frustration with a web-site that I thought would be a resource for me isn't exactly what I need right now.

Would somebody who's been around here a while like to take me by the hand and show me how to get in the door???

:-(

Sno Bunny I am sorry there would be a welcome wagon for this site, but I am sure I am speaking for us all when I say, Glad you found us. I am sorry that your frustrations have mounted with the entroduction to this site. It never has been that easy to get around. But at least we use to be able to find the chat room. When one picks Discussion/chat it is at the top of the search spot, clicking on will bring you to black and white chat screen. You will find that it is mostly empty because it is slow and not user friendly. We still have to push SUBMIT instead of just enter or return buttons, a bit of a pain. If you went there sometime you might find me sitting in the room which I do late afternoon early evening most weekdays.
I am 5 year suvivor of stage 3 with plenty of lymphnode involvement and have found reaching out to others like myself has been the thing I have been missing all along. I now can look outside myself and see what others must face in their wake of fear. Hope you find some comfort here, seeing you are not alone.
    Be good to yourself,
    Tara

    Hi SnoBunny,
Welcome. Several of us have created our Personal Web Page and when you see our name (handle) and click on it, that will bring you to a profile of who we are. There you will find a bio thru questions we have answered to give you an idea of where we have been and where we are going. Also, read older discussion board entries and you will start to pick up how all this works and learn to talk cancer-speak a new language.
Since, the new face lift on this site, a lot of us are struggling to reacquaint with how things work and the administration of this board is also willing to work with us. The Chat Room is now general and everyone can log on. If people you like and you have things in common, then you can invite them into another room for more focused chat. If you write another entry, tell us what your dx (diagnosis) is and what you were told, then we can share what we know.
You have found lots of friends here. Hugs, Iris

Hey, I finally got back in!!!! Thanks Tony!!! (Hmmm, I hope it's not just a fluke??)

Anyway, my diagnosis was "poorly differentiated invasive ductal carcinoma, high grade."

I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow, and will be having the sentinal node biopsy at the same time. So I'm praying for clear nodes and clean margins. At first, it was figured Tamoxifen and radiation would do it. Now, since the tumor's grown to about 3 cm, the mention of traditional chemotherapy is being thrown in there, too.

Thanks to all who posted replies/welcomes to me! As Tony said, I would have liked to acknowledge them sooner.
