Breast cancer metastisized

I am looking for advice on treatment for breast cancer that has metastisized to my liver. This is the second metastases as 2 years ago it showed up in my bones. I've had many, many chemo regimens all which seem to work for a short time and then we have to try something else. I am curious to hear from others with similar circumstances regarding treatments they have had or are undergoing. Also would be interested in websites to read more about options. I have checked out the obvious ones - NCI , ACS etc. Thanks!

    hi jandrein, can't really help you w/ liver mets, I have had bone mets, rt arm and low back. They treat me w/ herceptin and zometa and aromasin. Last rad was 10/01, tumor markers began going back up 12/01, can't find anything. I think I'm going to go back on xeloda, but at a lower dose, rec dose caused feet to blister. Stopping faslodex since it didn't phase markers.
    Latest rec treatment is xeloda w/ docetaxel, but I'm trying xeloda first. If just one works why add on second. Just MY opinion.
    As for web sites I also like webMD and NIH (Ntl.Institute of Health) and medline, they all have links to other sites. Hope this helps, God bless. hummb

    When I was researching xeloda in 2001 for someone, I found some information regarding dosage. It seems that some studies showed that a lowering of the dose to offset severe side effects did not affect the results of xeloda if it was working. I'm with you - try one before going on to a combination - may not be needed.

    As to liver mets - if the tumor is not real large as opposed to small tumors scattered throughout the liver, some places feeeze the tumor and some 'fry' it. If I had liver mets and chemo did not affect it or even with chemo, I would definitely look into that. This also was the result of researching for the same friend.

    Thanks jean, it was the pitts having all those blisters on my feet. Couldn't hardly walk and hands were beginning to hurt too (palms). Besides 'less is best' eh? God bless. hummb
