There is a light at the end of the tunnel

I am a 23 year old college student. I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease (stage 2B extra nodal) immediately following my Freshman year, during which I apparenly had the disease. I left school for a year to undergo Chemo (ABVD), 12 cycles. During this time I managed to carry 21 credits over 2 semesters at a local college near my home. My treatment was uneventful, not counting the trips to the hospital for treatment and hospitalization (5 days). After treatment ended, it took me almost 7 months to get myself in suitable condition to return to school. I have been in remission for almost 2 years now. I still get nervous everytime I have to go for tests (Gallium, PET, and CAT scans) every 6 months. The thing I missed most during the time I was ill was contact with another individual my age. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

    Hello,
    I am glad to see you are in remission. we were just informed that my 14 year old daughter has Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I am so scared for her. Can you give me any advice so I can help her though this?

    SJBUNNY...I am sorry to hear about your daughter. I to am a teen that went through Hodgkins. I was 17 when diagnosed with it. 12 Chemos, 4 straight weeks of radiation, and am now 4 moiths into remission. I am now 18. The only advice I can give you and your family is to talk. Make sure that your daughter talks to you about how she feels going through it. Get everyone involed in the process. Take the family to her chemos. Let her know that the entire family is "pulling" for her. If your religious at all, PRAY. I wasn't a big church go'er PRE-CANCER, but now I have a strong faith in God. Even if chuch and God isn't for you...my prayers will be with you, your daughter, and your family. Just don't be affraid to talk about it!!!
