PAXCIL

Hi Diane:
Whew! Sounds like quite a trip getting yourself off Paxil! But YOU DID IT! Good for you. I'm wondering though, why no one advised you how to taper off it? Was there not a physician covering for your dr. while she was on leave?
Am wondering if you've looked into any relaxation methods? Meditation, Yoga, Reikki
(sp?) aroma therapy, music therapy, etc..
A lot of those things, once we can master them, can be very helpful in managing our stress levels, WITHOUT medications. Are you menopausal now?
I found a few things which were (and continue to be) very effective for me. Especially during chemo. The key, at least for myself, was to begin with some meditation (prayer or a rose by any other name, which is right for you). Once I'd calmed my emotions, only then was I able to focus on relaxing my whole being and giving attention to all the other important areas of my life. Took some work and practice but it began to pay off rather quickly. I don't know what I'd have done otherwise as I avoid prescription meds like the plague, unless it's absolutely essential.
I do take a few supplements: CoQ10, acidophilus w/colostrum, a good quality daily multivitamin, several cups of green tea daily and eat a very healthy diet. That last one, I manage about 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time is when I have pasta runaways! Ha. I'm 13 months out of all treatment and feel good, so it's working.
Ask your doctor what they think before you try any new supplements...it never hurts to get their opinion.
I just started Remifemin (for night sweats) several weeks ago and so far, can't really tell any difference. Takes some time to get any real benefit though.
Just wanted to pass those few ideas along to you and hope some of it may appeal to you. There are so many relaxation techniques out there...just find one that feels right for you and perhaps it'll help you to feel much calmer and settled inside and then you can give your attention to other things, when you feel ready to move on to the next thing on your list.
Best wishes for ALL good things!
