nerve? pain

I only had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed but on the 6th or 7th day I shuffled into the kitchen for my morning coffee and suddenly had such a pain I fainted (and crashed to the floor). The pain came in waves and eventually stablized over the next few days ... my surgeon said it is nerve reaction. He gave me Tylenol 3 ... I took it at night and soon the pain was bearable. Good luck ... sorry have to go through this pain. Jamie0

I guess that answered my question of how you are doing. Good grief! I'm so sorry you have to go through that. I had a lumpectomy, and I had some shooting pains through the breast and underarm. I had 33 rad treatments, and have been done a year now, and still sometimes feel like someone hit the rib cage under my arm with a baseball bat. But it doesn't last long. I can't believe they didn't give you anything else for pain...I just had Darvocet, but it was enough to take the edge off so I could function. I would check with the oncologist if you're not getting anywhere with the surgeon. I wish you well...it really does get better! God bless, Cyndi0

After the radiation I have had nerve pain that got so bad, I would tell my Drs. about it and they would just tell me it was my nerve trying to heal. It has been a year since my lumpectomy and I still have the pain. I had gone to a pain managment Dr. and he knew just what I was talking about and gave me Lidoderm 5% patches and they have done wonders for me. The patches have lidacaine in them and the meds go right to the pain. Ask your Dr. about them.I don't think I would have made it without them. My pain is getting some better but it is taking a while. Good luck and they tell me it will just take time for the nerve to heal. kathydrummjmears said:I only had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed but on the 6th or 7th day I shuffled into the kitchen for my morning coffee and suddenly had such a pain I fainted (and crashed to the floor). Thank you so much for your post! I've been trying to find someone who's had a positive experience with lidoderm patches. I'm glad you're getting some pain relief. -Geralkathydrumm said:After the radiation I have had nerve pain that got so bad, I would tell my Drs. about it and they would just tell me it was my nerve trying to heal. When you said you can't stand your clothese touching your skin I knew the EXACT feeling. I was so sorried about this but by 6 weeks post-surgery my pain faded and never came back. I just wish someone had told me that would happen. It helps to know that!nasa2537 said:I guess that answered my question of how you are doing. Good grief! I'm so sorry you have to go through that.
