Dear Pam, I feel for anyone on adriamycin! The 'red devil', have they combined it with cyclophosphmide? Followed w/ Taxol? Used Navelbine? Xeloda? Switched you from Tamoxifen to Aromasin, given you Faslodex,if you're postmenopausal? Treated you w/ Herceptin? Do you have any bone mets? There are lots of alternatives just depends on what they are treating exactly. Get me more info if you want, stage? ER+/PR+/HER2+...
    Lots of love, Hummingbyrd.

Have done the Tamoxifen, Megace, Femara & Adriamycin (twice). See previous as to why no Herceptin. Cyclophosphamide is too slow as my tumours are growing too fast at the moment but they may combine it with Methotrexate & 5FU (CMF) or try Xeloda (Another form of 5FU). I am pretty clued up on what is available but to be frank these are all last ditch treatments. I have had the usual ones that work except on me they didn't. I know I am sounding negative & I try not to be but there is only so much positivity I can feel at the moment. Thanks for your love & concern
    Love & hugs
    Pam
PS. Sorry about all the repeat replies above but my computer went crazy for a few moments & sent a half typed message about 8 times.

    Hi Pam,
I don't have any alternatives for you other than what the girls have mentioned in their posts to you, but I wanted to drop you a note. I've only been coming to this site for a little over a year and your name was one of the first I saw when I started. I always enjoy reading your notes and you don't ever need to feel that you are a moaner. I have found a lot of strength in your messages, and I'm always delighted to see your name pop up :) Take care of yourself and know that you are in our prayers and we all love you.
    Love and prayers, Judy

Pam, I feel the same way as Judy. When I was first diagnosed with bc in Jan of 2002, I came here and yours was one of the very first names I remember. Reading your posts helped me so much. You are inspiring and empowering. I'll be sending positive thoughts and prayers. Take care - Diane

I too am very sorry to hear of your continued battle with this. Once again Pam I have to say thanks for being so open and coming here to lay your feelings. You have helped so many because you have been so open and it has done so much for so many of us as you can see. I keep you close at heart and you are always on my mind. Hang in there girl and keep on keeping on. I can understand as we all can how hard this must be on you and your family and only wish for better things to come your way.
You have been a good friend these past few years and want you to know just how much you have inspired me, just some of the reason I am able to return to a life I once new. You ever need to communicate send me a message and I will get back to you. I am so glad you were able to post, so you too can get the support you need as I have so much of it here.
Be good to yourself and know you always have friends who are here for you.
    Love ya,
    Tara

    *tightest hugs for you Pam!!!*
You are very precious to us and you are not being a nuisance or a downer or whatever else it is you think you may be just now... We are all with you. You know that as well as anybody, eh?
Now realize, this is YOUR body, YOUR life and everything will work out. A very dear friend's mother has been mucking about with all of this for over 12yrs now and was told she was terminal several times, the last was a year ago. She was loaded thru' her lymph nodes and organs. Not even months they "gave her"... Ha!!! Do ye' know what Pammy?? She is *still* here today, the cancer stopped growing, they are all shaking their heads in wonder. They've taken her off of all drugs and are just watching. Her energy is back up, she's getting back into her old routine and feeling much more energetic. No medical explaination.
Pam, I want this goodness and healing for you as well. *more hugs* Believe. Believe. I do.

Much love, as many hugs as you desire and all my best for you. You are divine!!!!
    Love,
    Marty

I'm not sure as to why you can't use Herceptin. Don't discount the possibility of a combo of tumor types. My primary was ER+/PR+ and HER2NU, Herceptin has worked well w/ me. My tumor markers have been going up since Dec 2001, but they can't find any cancer anywhere, go figure. When I took Adriamycin I felt like I'd been run over by a train, so I understand why you feel lousy. The only thing that tasted close to good was potatoe cheese soup (homemade)! Boost helped me keep my weight on. I'll be praying that your MD's have the wisdom to know what to treat you with. God bless. Stay positive, faith heals, I read it in Reader's Digest May 2001! so it must be true. Besides I'm living proof, faith heals, one day at a time, as a lot of us are. Lots of love, TByrd
