Still in Treatment

Just a short update. I am due to have # 3 of Adriamycin on Thursday. #2 was bad. Having had 6 cycles of this last year I thought I would handle it fine but each one is different. This one will be the last one I can have as I will have reached my lifetime limit of this particular drug. Where to from here??? It's a bit scary. I don't feel as if these cycles of Adriamycin are doing any good this time. My marker numbers are not dropping & to be frank I feel lousy. I am in a lot of pain & am hardly eating & very tired all the time. I am now on high doses of slow acting morphine again as it is the only way I can cope with the pain. I know this sounds very depressing & to be frank I am depressed. Any one have news on any other drugs that may be a possible for me? I have been in treatment for over 2 years now & am back to square one.
Sorry to be such a moaner today but it's getting to me.
Love & hugs
Pam

Oh Pam, I am sorry you are having so much trouble. I know there are sites for trials, I would check them out, investigate them, ask you doc too. If there is a breast clinic withing reasonable distance, call them and tell them you are interested in trials. You never know. Tamoxifen was found on a trial. You are precious to me, sweet girl, Gentle hugs, Shirlann0

Dear Pam, I feel for anyone on adriamycin! The 'red devil', have they combined it with cyclophosphmide? Followed w/ Taxol? Used Navelbine? Xeloda? Switched you from Tamoxifen to Aromasin, given you Faslodex,if you're postmenopausal? Treated you w/ Herceptin? Do you have any bone mets? There are lots of alternatives just depends on what they are treating exactly. Get me more info if you want, stage? ER+/PR+/HER2+...jmears said:Pam

Hi Pam,
I don't have any alternatives for you other than what the girls have mentioned in their posts to you, but I wanted to drop you a note. I've only been coming to this site for a little over a year and your name was one of the first I saw when I started. I always enjoy reading your notes and you don't ever need to feel that you are a moaner. I have found a lot of strength in your messages, and I'm always delighted to see your name pop up Take care of yourself and know that you are in our prayers and we all love you.
Love and prayers, Judy0 -
Hi Pam...so sorry you're feeling so crappy. You have a right to moan any time you feel like it. I think it's the only way you can get past things and move on. I don't know much about different chemos, so can't help there, but I'll send some love and prayers your way. Please keep us posted on what is going on. God bless, Cyndi0

Pam I sent you a note re: alternate treatments, but since I'm new at this I accidently put it in under jmears message. You might want to look there if you're interested. Hummingbyrd.0

Herceptin is only of some use if yu are her2/neu positive. As it is not tested for here as a matter of course I don't knw if I am. I have asked for the test to be done but no positive answer yet. You need a tumour sample to test & the only biopsy I had done were my original cancer in 1981 & the biopsy on a lung tumour I had when recurence was diagnosed. If there is still a pathology slide around from that the test can be done. Otherwise they have to take a new sample from a tumour which they won't do without very good cause. As I know I am estrogen + it is unlikely I am also her2/neu+ also. They don't usually go together (but it is not impossible) It is not a test I can have done without paying for it as insurance won't cover it here. Thanks for the hugs
Love
